  Dark Chess is a very famous kind of chess variant with incomplete information, in this game you will not only experience the chess variant of the fog of war, but also the ability to customize the pieces in the game. With a collection of chess variants, and ready to be loaded with more modes and features in the future, this game certainly has a lot of potentials. Nevertheless, although the game is still in Early Access, the gameplay experience for players is very poor. Firstly, the campaign is poorly set up, the plagued setting of the pieces in Joanna the Mad's second level is, in my opinion, very poor and torturous, and the puzzles are so difficult that it is very difficult for casual players to get through the game. Also, the variety of bugs is very frustrating. Due to the lack of text on the various variants of the game, players often have to figure out how to understand them on their own. The game certainly has very good ideas and the graphic presentation is quite good. But perhaps the positioning of this game should be considered more carefully: it seems to me to be too difficult, making it very unfriendly for casual players. For hardcore chess players, I believe chess.com would be a better choice than Dark Chess. The makers might need to make some big changes to the campaign design if they want to improve this game. I also saw the Road Map for the future of the game and I was sad to find that there were no future updates that would entice players to pay for them. For hardcore chess players, you may be able to enjoy this game to the fullest. For most casual players or even those who don't know much about chess, I don't recommend you to buy this game - because the experience you will get will be very bad.

  Dark Chess brings you an innovative way to play chess: the fog of war, where you cannot see the rival's pieces position. You might think it is easy, but it is not - it will take a few attempts before you succeed (if you ever do). The game itself plays very smooth, a comfy soundtrack, great piece's design and a nice story line for the main campaign. Besides the story which has several challenges and unique duels against historical leaders, you can play the classic chess as well - which you can choose the AI difficulty to suit your favorite way of play. Give it a try if you are a beginner in the world of chess - if you are a veteran, this is a must play! Go for it, mate ;)

  As someone who hasn't played chess in over 10 years, I was a bit hesitant to try out Dark Chess. But after giving it a chance, I have to say I was blown away by how engaging and exciting the game was. The added twist of the fog of war made the game feel fresh and new, and the single-player campaign was full of surprises and challenges that kept me hooked for hours on end. I found myself playing for four straight hours after the release, completely engrossed in the gameplay. The art style of the game was also beautiful, with dark fantasy themes that really set the tone for the gameplay. The music and sound effects were also on point and added to the overall immersive experience. Overall, I highly recommend Dark Chess to anyone looking for a unique twist on the classic game of chess. Even if you haven't played in a while, the game is approachable and engaging enough to keep you hooked for hours on end.

  Really enjoying the fog of war mechanic, it can lead to sudden death for both sides if they aren't properly guarding their king. There is something awesome feeling about flying across the map to take out the king that had no idea they just moved into check. There is classic chess too which is neat if you want to switch over. As far as writing this there doesn't seem to be any locks on anything asking for more money. Everything seems to be within grasp for just playing the game. Overall very simple and terrifying shake up on the classic game of chess, I hope for more ways to customize matches along more visual customization.

  i spent 2 hours in this game nonstop, without doing anything else, i dont play that often, but this game, i think i'll continue to play it, until im satisfied

  this is the first chess game that enthral me, in absolute love with animation and design, really good sound and background music, "fog of war" - what a great idea! interface is also user friendly and funny in language

  This will be a rewiev of a campaign. Context: my Chess skill-level - ~2k on lichess with a lot of Fog of War chess experience. Diffuculty played (Hard (or whatever max level is called on ENG localization)) The campaign consists of "puzzles" and free play games. -Puzzles for hard level are usually quite hard indeed, with some of the being easy and some being nightmares you will have trouble with (thankfully there is a "get help" button). Some of that puzzles are quite well-known though, so you may have seen them. -Free play . The main problem of free play experience is that AI is VERY weak. It would often blunder forks, feed you with a free piece etc. To somewhat counter that, AI opponents are often given some broken abilities they will TRY to abuse. In about half of levels, balance between abilities strenght and AI weakness is quite good, resulting in overall fun, novel and challenging experience. In other (~10%, 1 or 2 missions) AI abilities is too OP, winning is VERY hard, 1 mistake will lead to a force restart. In another half, abilities are either not too useless or AI is too stupid to abuse them, resulting in easy win. - Story of the campaign mode is simple, with some interesting and some annoying text bit, fine overall. - Graphic is pretty good IMHO - Complete time ~12 hours for me, although to speed it up for some puzzles I used Stockfish Overall: decent game for the money, decent amount of challenging levels, I would probably give it 7/10

  Dark Chess is a chess variant with incomplete information (fog of war). You can only see your own pieces and the squares that you can legally move to. The goal is not to checkmate the king, but to capture it. The game’s fog of war feature adds more fun and intrigue to a timeless classic. I found Dark Chess to be very challenging and exciting. It requires a lot of strategy and intuition, as you must guess where your opponent’s pieces are and avoid blunders. The game has a campaign mode with different scenarios and objectives, as well as an online PvP mode where you can play against other players around the world (ranked PVP Tournament mode coming on April 1st). There is also a Pass & Play mode, and custom game creation is also an option. You get to unlock beautifications for your collection to customize your avatar, board etc. (Read the game description for more information). The graphics are great, and I love the art style. The only downside of this game is that it might not appeal to beginners or casual players who prefer the entire visibility of the board, however you can also choose to play classic chess instead. Would love to see updates in the future like steam cloud saves, more styles for game pieces etc. If you are looking for a new twist on chess that will test your skills and nerves, I highly recommend Dark Chess.

  Do you like random losses? Maybe this game for you. I expected epic chess with mind bending rules, but this is a mobile game crap with looooooong animations and penalties only for you, which looks like a twith integration. For example awesome PLAGUE bonus, means that figure will die if it won't move in 5 turns, and it's on your queen and king. That's mean you MUST play either most boring and weak opening or short version of fianchetto, which is getting old pretty quickly. Computer can just attack your queen 3 times, or give you 4 checks for you to get rid of your queen, and even leave your king in small space to force you to mate yourself. I hoped it's a better chess, but it's a Rage game with a gamble.

  It's very well done and fun to play. The Dark Chess campaign is quite challenging.
