**Before I start the review, i just want to mention that the development team has been very helpful on fixing a lot of my issues while I have been playing the game, and because of this I felt the need to update my review by a lot. The game is far from being finished but its already a very fun game. Not to mention the developer team is constantly helping the community in the discord server to fix their issues. 10/10 great community.** ***ALSO PLEASE keep in mind the games in PRE ALPHA. Stop judging it based on a full game, as its nowhere being completed.*** I rarely ever give games reviews, but for this game I am going to make an exception. This game may have a few bugs but that's normal since the game just got released to the public, but over all the game it very high quality game play wise. The cars that you can work on can be found at the back of the workshop, which is nice, but you cant really drive them around which sucks, you can only build them and store them at your workshop collection, or sell them to buyers by pressing E on the plate. This was quite unsatisfying, but nonetheless still a pretty cool feature that I hope they work on soon.On the bright side the graphics are amazing, probably more quality over some of the Tripple A games that I have played. The tutorial could use some work as its a bit iffy, and doesn't fully explain what you have to do, other than just saying where to go. The part where you learn to crush the cars is a bit confusing but once you figure it out its a pretty cool mechanic for the game to have. I especially love the fact that you guys listen to the community and worked on some updates relating to what people wanted added to the game, such as being able to work and keep a few of the cars you find around the map. I will admit this game works a lot better than the prologue which I'm quite about. Overall the controls are decent but could use some revamping as well, such as how the tutorial tells you to find something, it should also show it in the game not just on the map as a yellow arrow. GAMEPLAY wise the games really fun, and I cant wait for there to be more updates to the game. My second opinion is on the workshop part, where you work on de-rusting and working on items to make them clean enough to sell to customers. I ALSO LOVE the amount of different things you can do in the game, like the pawn shop IDEA and the motel! (Keep in mind theses are in the game, but I am not sure if you can get them yet. It just says locked behind a quest. Im also not that far into the quests yet...) It adds a lot more variety other than just crushing cars and looking for scrap. This game may be in early access and might have a few bugs, like when i walked through a fence here and there, but all together this game is very well designed and I'm glad they worked so hard on it. I may only have a few hours after making this review on the game but I will definitely edit this review with more information once I get a full day or so out of playing the game.

The game has an interesting premise and a lot of potential. I would like to suggest adding a welder, proper paint, and some other power tools to let players make their own "junk art", I think that could spark a fun meta within the game. This would probably have to wait until some sorely needed optimisation comes along though. PROS: - Hunting for treasures in a junkyard is fun! - Renovation is neat, but could use some polish. (Pun intended.) - Interesting spots to go to all over the map. CONS: - Textures could be better and lightning is not good at all. I looked up to see if it was night time a few times, but no, the game is just dark and poorly lit. - UI is fugly and frustrating to navigate, menus look like they came from a cash grab mobile game. Yuck. - Tutorial and missions need work, I ended up quitting after not being able to figure out where to go after learning about the auction place. (I think that's what they called it.) - The map is kinda useless and the world can be hard to navigate, as it's very hilly and restrictive. CONCLUSION: I am gonna be watching this game, because I think it has a lot of potential. However, I can't say that I would recommend buying at it's current state. My review will hopefully change in the near future.

This game has potential but unfortunately I can't recommend it as of now due to a lot of frustration while playing this game. Your base layout is a nightmare everything just feel spread out and overall give a really discomfort feeling when trying to travel to each facility. This game tried too hard in making many different zones, while you can fast travel to many points on the map your vehicle also warp with you and that feel really wierd. Also you can't upgrade your facilities at all and pretty much remove the joy of developing your base along with your character. If you expected features similar to Car Mechanic Simulator you'll be greatly disappointed.. Car wrecks are for scrap only you can't restore the wreck. Restored car seems to be only collectible for your workshop and you can't take them out for a ride. The functional vehicles you own only have simple upgrade and can't even be painted in your workshop if you want a new colour for your vehicle you need to buy a new one instead. overall the game just feels bland and lack depth.

There's a lot of little things wrong with this game but nothing MAJOR. I realize this is an Early Access game so it may turn out to be fantastic in the long run, but I'm just writing this review for people who might be thinking of getting it in its current state. I've updated the review to reflect recent changes but the overall rating is still the same at this point. Once they flesh out the game a bit more and give it some variety, it'll be great. You get a decently large world to explore looking for junk, but the entire map is nothing but junky areas. Imagine a town that was nothing but junkyards, factories, car crushers, random junkpiles, bad roads, old buildings and abandoned train tracks and that's pretty much what you get here. It almost felt like Borderlands crossed with some kind of random European simulator with music from a home depot commercial. There's a lot for you to do in this game to keep you busy but not much variety. You can drive around looking for random scrap. You can drive around looking for old cars to crush/recycle. You can open the trunks and hoods of various cars somehow unsuitable for crushing and pull an item or two out of there (they will respawn more junk after a while). They've also got the option to renovate some items including cars. You can do some random missions for people milling about that will give you a list of items to find for them for some quick cash. There's also some work orders that call for a certain amount of an item to be collected for a reward and the reward varies depending on how far you take it (e.g. crush one car for $2000 all the way up to four cars for $14,000 or whatever). The game also looks fairly decent, though a lot of it feels like they used a collection of bits and pieces of game map and just slapped the pieces together until they sorta fit. Rather than feeling like you're in an actual place it feels more like you're in a really big First Person Shooter map or something, where items are placed as obstacles or decoration and without much other purpose. When you do a mission for a person on the map, they ask you for a handful of junk items and then all you have to do to find those items is look at the minimap and it directs you right to them. There's even a blue dot on the map where you will find the item in question. It might be more challenging if they said "I need some replacement car parts" and you could just search the various cars until you found the items, but instead the game places all the items pretty close by so it just turns into an impromptu easter egg hunt (with glowing eggs that show up on radar). A recent update has made this even worse by putting big glowing arrows over every item so you can't possibly miss them. It's like an RPG fetch quest where they ask you to bring them some milk and a dozen eggs, and there's a supermarket right across the street. It was already too easy and now it's too easy and obvious as well. All the vehicles in this game feel really awkward to drive, and you're driving them from the third person (except the junk cart that you push around in first person mode which is even MORE awkward to drive). Your character moves kinda slow but that's ok because you get to spend money and skill points to move faster! Also for some reason drinking beer turns you into Usain Bolt. Drinking beer for ME makes me want to go take a nap but maybe the beer in this game is more like an energy drink? You can only carry a certain number of items, but thankfully they don't count the weight. You could carry four complete V8 engine blocks in your backpack and it's no more of an inconvenience than carrying 4 plastic bottles. But not 5! That would require you to upgrade. You have to upgrade in order, so even if you have the cash to spend to get 8 backpack slots you have to spend money on each slot one at a time, thus ensuring that you spend more time getting the money. Some upgrades make no sense like spending $65,000 to go from a beat up tow truck with 2 slots for cars to a new shiny tow truck with a fresh coat of paint but only 1 slot for cars. At least the pickup truck upgrades seem like they offer more upgrades. As you sell stuff and do stuff in game you also gain levels which grants you skill points but few of the skill tree items feel worth spending points on. The running speed upgrades are pretty subtle so you don't even really feel like you're moving that much faster, and other upgrades seem kinda pointless (like upgrading the max distance you can be from a car to put it on the car transporter). A lot of this feels like they wanted to give you lots of reasons to spend skill points on upgrades and then they couldn't really come up with a good list of things to spend it on. The most annoying thing about this game though is the way things seem to disappear. First off, when you go to quit the game, it warns you that unless items are in very specific spots they'll disappear when you quit the game, including most everything you haven't sold. However I've found that even putting the item in the correct spot isn't a 100% guarantee it won't just vanish, and it doesn't have to wait for you to quit the game either. It seems like if the game is the one that moves the item (like when you move an item from the car transporter to the crusher parking lot) then it's pretty safe but items you put in the shed manually seem to get lost easily once it's out of view. I've also had the game lock up on me TWICE and even though this game boasts an autosave feature, it doesn't save the game often enough, so when I finally go back into the game it meant I lost more than an hour's worth of work and progress. Autosave doesn't work in a vehicle so you have to get out every few minutes or risk losing a lot of time if it crashes. Ultimately this would be a fun game but right now it feels a bit repetitive with the end goal being to collect enough money to upgrade your items and stats. It's fun for a few hours at least (as long as they're constantly introducing you to new things you can do) but after a while it just feels like busy work. Disassembly of a car to renovate it feels tedious with screws and bolts needing to be removed but the bolts/screws are so small that you often can't see them until you place that dot cursor DIRECTLY on top of it and it then turns green. Other renovation items have you scrubbing the dirt or sandblasting the rust off of parts of the item, and it's not easily obvious which parts you missed so they have a hint button that makes the areas you missed glow yellow. The developers have made it so that you can move while crouched again so that's an improvement, but in the end each renovation seems to boil down to: 1) clean it 2) sand it down 3) paint it 4) sell it. Maybe give a choice in paint colors, or maybe give an option to use a similar scrap item to help improve the quality of the repairs. All in all this isn't a bad game, but it's not really worth playing at this point. I put 6 hours into it and I'm already frustrated with it. If you're interested in this game I'd say follow it and watch for the updates from the developer. So far the developers seem engaged with the community and quick to update if they can fix a bug. Still the game needs variety and at the moment feels like a concept more than a fully fleshed out product.

This game is coming along nicely! Yes there are bugs but what new EA games doesnt ? Its funny how people yell and scream to put the game out early but trash it when they find a bug. The steam community can be so toxic at times.

The first word that comes to mind when considering the current state of the game is "Rough". Exceedingly rough. The map is a haphazard tangled array of zones that make no sense. There is nothing about the map that makes it feel like you're in an actual place, instead there's just a random array of facilities and junk heaps (many many junk heaps) with decoration decisions that are clearly inspired by the philosophy"what can we put here to have variety" rather than "what can we do here that makes sense?" For example, you'll have a chain link fence start out one panel high, then it'll jump to two on the next panel, down to one again, get metal cladding and be three sections tall on the next, etc. Nobody builds a fence like that. Then there's the gameplay. The sheer number of objects on the map which you cannot interact with is appalling. They've littered the entire landscape with the rusting carcasses of dead cars, but the vast majority of them cannot be towed off to be crushed, and have no interaction points for opening trunks/hoods to search for other goodies. What's baffling is that there's a whole questline that revolved around renovating a car - more on that later - and looting its interior for cool artifacts that showed promise, but none of the cars on the map can be entered to have their interiors searched. Many of the tasks are just unnecessarily tedious. Take, for example, the small crusher. You have to move vehicles to be crushed through a yard that clearly hasn't been well thought out as evidenced by the sheer number of obstacles you're required to dodge. Then, once you get your vehicle into the crusher, you have to tab over to the crusher interface where you can either manually control the hydraulic press which crushes the car into a cube or put it into automatic mode. Automatic mode is by far the more enjoyable way of doing so as the novelty of controlling a hydraulic press wears thin quickly but you have to tab over and manually engage automatic mode for every vehicle. One of the features that showed the most promise was the renovation of cars and other items for a profit. Unfortunately, the renovation "minigame" for found objects is lackluster with the same handful of tools being used over and over in the same exact way each time and the only variety being contributed by the shape of the object in question and, based on material, the specific tools used. On a metal object, for example, you might start by brushing the object down with a scrub brush but a piece of furniture or audio equipment gets the rag and cleaner treatment -- too bad the mechanics for each tool are identical. Then there are the cars... oh the cars. During the tutorial questline you get to renovate a car and the mechanics show a ton of promise. You start by stripping down the car, removing everything from body panels to light bulbs and electrical cables. Items for renovation (body parts and the engine) go on racks where you then take them over to the renovation area for cleaning, stripping, and painting, then bring them back to later be reassembled. Unfortunately, this mechanic is only ever seen once as far as I know as later car renovations consist of finding a candidate car in the wolrd (painful in its own right given the fifty thousand cars out there that can't be used, towed, or even raided for loot to sell at the market), finding it in the garage it's been stowed in after you found it, putting its body parts back on the chassis, and then moving it to the lift where you previously restored the tutorial car. You then are made to restore all parts of the car in-place as assembled which adds many orders of magnitude of frustration to the process even before you consider their addition of the pit of despair under the lift. It's as though two separate teams worked on designs for a restoration mechanic and then bizarrely both designs were implemented. All in all, the game has potential conceptually but the execution of the game is disappointing at best. Buy it for $5 if you find it on sale or sit tight and wait for the mechanics to be further refined and developed into a cohesive whole because right now it's just a jumbled up hot mess.

Dear Steam support . Thanks for my refund. HOWEVER! I received an email stating that I have made a few refunds recently and you pretty much accused me of using the system to “try” games… This is not the case. I post this here to help the developers of junk yard simulator and to put steam straight with firm words like I received in the email. This game is great . There are a lot of good reviews and graphically is very nice .. so well done team who made this .. The problem I had was that it was crashing on 11th GEN processors . I found a fix here .. https://www.gamepretty.com/junkyard-simulator-how-to-fix-game-crash-10th-11th-gen-intel-processor-users/ And it worked. However I my point is I shouldn’t have to do that for a game to run .. I may re purchace the game at a later date but for now I requested a refund. I insist that STEAM re word the emails that are automated so they don’t imply that some one may be “abusing the refund system “ when a lot of steam games have these types of issues. Sorry to have written this here but I felt you should know the fix but at the same time steam are very hard to email directly Great game .. keep up the hard work !

Unfortunately it's a NO. Game feels bland, empty, hollow and littered with bugs such as the famous "fullscreen" issue, random crashes, flying objects, cars...etc. I was actually looking forward to this game since I've played the demo but I didn't expect it to be in such a messy and empty state. Game doesn't offer you much except the repetitiveness of "get this, deliver that, buy this, sell that" and car repair is just pointless and has no goal in it. I understand the difficulties of creating something unique and entertaining but this just isn't it. And as for the developers, I can see you're trying to do something good in here, but I think you should have fixed the full screen issue yourselves, not just some random player who accidentally found the fix and posted it on discussion forums. You should have fixed that game breaking issue before anything else, urgently. Before adding more features, before adding more things to do, before anything. Because at least that would have given the players some some stability for the game. And showed that you actually care about this kind of things to improve your game. I might know nothing about the development stages of a game or anything but I've played enough games to know when a developer is trying to fix things rather than saying " oh it's a huge thing to do, we're working on it" or "we don't know what it is, we're trying to figure it out." I'm gonna delete the game after I've already put in 16 hrs (I think it's more than enough to know what's going on) and wait for a while if/until things will pick up. Until then, I can't -in good conscience- recommend this game.

Very cool idea, but it's like you would build a house with an amazing floor, and later fuck up the walls. What I mean by that is: You made a game that has a great idea, you find various items renovate them sell them et cetera. But a lot of the mechanics are just bad, for example, audio in the crushers, for example, when you drive a vehicle it'll just sometimes decide to start flying, and worst of all locations and items sometimes just decide not to load. I m fully aware that this is an early-access game, so please fix these issues. I'd give it a 6/10, very playable, needs stitches though. EDIT: All stuff mentioned ^ was fixed in patch 1.1, so the game had a little unstable beginning, but after a bit of work it's great. I'm just looking out for new features!
