  First game was a good fun challenge, but I didn't care for this one at all. There's way too many cheap shots, pits, spikes and basically one hit deaths in every single level, and many require to repeat long sequences over and over because of checkpoint placement.

  A video game sequel is intended to be an opportunity for developers to take the formula from the first game and improve upon it in different ways. I explain that because Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel does not come across as a video game sequel, but instead as Rosenkreuzstilette: The Lost Levels with how it is just the first game and nothing more. For being a game that took a few years to even be released, it carries over both the positives and negatives from the first game and does not attempt to fix them (I recommend reading my review of the first game for more context in what i mean). The idea of having your main weapon have limited ammo is actually an interesting take on your weapons lineup and gives the player more of a reason to use the other weapons. However, the weapon you have kills enemies with ease, is a turbo fire weapon, and weapon energy can be found without any problems. This game also still copies room layouts from other Mega Man games. The game does add in some original ideas for its levels; granted a good chunk of the ideas aren't good like the swimming sections and certain level gimmicks (the darkened rooms in Recht's stage, the snowstorm in Liebeas's stage, and the one-hit lasers in Iris Stage 1 ), but it does show potential for maybe Rosenkreuzstilette 3 to be good, if that even happens. Bosses are also really strange. A majority of them are repeats of bosses from the first game albeit with different patterns; why there couldn't have been a new set of baddies that serve Shwarzkreuz is beyond me. I also ended up finding some of the bosses to be pretty bad, those include: Schirach as well as Darkside Devil with their patterns, and The Nightwalker for being both a poor man's Gamma from Mega Man 3 and being a mindless boss fight. Overall, Rosenkreuzstilette Freduenstachel is a waste of a sequel that could've been good. I do not see any value in playing either of the Rosenkreuzstilette games over the Mega Man games. If you want to play one of the games, play the first one; but if you want to play both games, wait until they go on sale because these games are not worth the full price.

  The first game was a love letter to Megaman 2. This game is more spread out in its references, and there are also quite a bit more of them, some of which you may like, others which might cause you to roll your eyes. The change in character means that a lot of the level design is played slightly differently even if there are lots of similarities, as the Sting of Joy requires ammo where the spirit cannon did not. The difficulty also seems to be somewhat higher, but that might just be me not being used to it yet. The sprite reuse isn't very appealing visually, but quite a bit bosswise is edited or changed, like if they had taken toadman and put him in megaman 5 right after 4, but with the attack patterns of someone else like gyroman. Overall, I'd say its still very close to NES Megaman in presentation and gameplay, but is less 'safe' in how they designed things in many places. If you enjoyed the first one, you'll probably like this. Side note seperate from gameplay, the translation seems to be not quite as good as the first game's, but its not like the story was anything big in the first place.

  This game is awesome, i love it some much lol! It's a really fun game with a lot of references and a crazy difficulty level. charismatic characters and a gorgeous soundtrack that will make you play this game for hours in a row without getting bored. It would be insane if they create more games like this one, or maybe a sequence

  As soon as I saw this game was unlocked on Steam, I had to buy it. And I don't regret the decision one bit. For those unaware, this is the sequel to Rosenkreuzstilette. A game that I recommended as well when it was put on Steam. I've played that game more then this one in the past. But now I do wish it was the other way around. In this MegaMan-style game you take control of one of the bosses from the previous game, Freudia, instead of Spiritia. (Whom I will refer to as Tia from now on). This is one of the many improvements this game makes over the previous game. The reason for this is that Freudia does not have a traditional "Buster" weapon like Tia does. Instead she has a rapid-fire icicle weapon that has it's own weapon meter. This means you do not have to worry about charging it to do massive damage to an enemy. Another positive is that when you beat a boss, Freudia doesn't just steal the bosses weapon. Instead she gains a new weapon that's inspired by the boss you just beat, but she gives it her own little unique twist. This adds even more of a breath of fresh air to the classic MegaMan style of gameplay. Of course, as with all MegaMan style games, this game is indeed frustratingly difficult. You'll find yourself dying several times to a stage or boss until you finally get it down. And when you do, it's completely worth it. Overall, the game does have it's ups and downs. However if you're a fan of MegaMan style platformers, cute anime girls, or both. Then pick this game up as soon as you can.

  This game is more balance than the first one same fun and satisfied for megaman fan too. hope they have the 3rd for castlevania fan and name that easy to find too .

  Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel (RKSF) is the sequel to Rosenkreuzstilette (RKS). RKS is also on Steam, is very similar to this game, is cheaper, and takes place before RKSF, so if you're considering getting RKSF, I would recommend RKS first. Check out my RKS review; it goes into a lot more depth than this review, and almost everything I have to say in that review applies to RKSF as well. Depending on how much you like RKS, you'll probably end up with a pretty good idea how much you'll like RKSF. RSKF is a strong sequel that does a good job of retaining what made RKS good while adding new and interesting twists on the formula.
