  A scathing critique/satire of modern streamer culture and its potentially horrific effects upon the psyche of those who engage in it, both those who produce such content, and those who consume it. Gameplay is similar to Princess Maker, or Long Live the Queen, if you are familiar with such titles. You have Ame, our "somewhat hot mess" of a protagonist, and her Significant Other, "P-chan' (that's you, the player). In her own words, Ame's goal is to amass a streamer following of one million followers to satisfy her desperate need for approval. To do so, she dons a flashy costume to become OMGkawaiiangel (or Kangel for short). Only problem is, she's completely dependent on you, the player, to make all her career (and quite a few of her personal) decisions for her. Ame is already clearly not healthy mentally at the start of the game, and becoming a streamer does her absolutely no favors. You'll need to carefully manage her stress, mental fortitude and her affection for you, whilst advancing her career. Streaming is stressful, but you can always have her take a break if she gets too close to the breaking point. Of course, you get more subs the more streams you do in a row, and taking a break means a massive drop off in subscriber growth, so, you know, maybe just pop some pills to take the edge off once or twice. Or three times (who's counting anyway) Oh hey, we could do a stream about that! Or maybe delve into some Q-anon level conspiracy theories! Nerds love that shit. Or take the easy way and just have an "accidental" wardrobe malfunction generate some views, anything to get that sub count higher. Ultimately, Needy Streamer Overload is about managing the psyche of a depressed, unstable streamer who is painfully aware of the fact that the only thing she really has going for her is her looks. Whether Ame becomes a depressed wreck, a drug addicted burnout, or a successful, wealthy streamer is ultimately up to the player's decisions. Of course, even if she DOES become successful, will that really make her happy?

  Very few times I find myself with a hard time to express how I feel about a game, this one is one of those. It's a management-style game around a mentally-ill girl that wants to be a streamer, and the game portrays all of that with a very pleasant colour palette and pixel art. But this is also a great commentary on streamer/v-tuber culture, as well as what goes in the mind of someone with incredibly high mental issues. Not many media these days wants to really tackle the absolute insanity behind streamer culture and specially behind Vtubers, the notion that people can be so incredibly obsessed with the idea of a drawing that does things live, how most people completely dehumanise these characters from the person behind them in search of some 'purity' status that they want to apply to them. And this game does a great job at letting you see the other side of the coin in a very gruesome way at times. It can be a hard pill to swallow if you heavily relate to the issues portrayed within the game (from self-harm to drug abuse), but if you can go through it, it's a very engaging and thought-provoking experience.
