XOXO Droplets Возможности

XOXO Droplets is a free-to-play dating sim. There's an optional paid DLC that increases the amount of dateable guys and adds a few neat extra features. The DLC is available in a bundle with our other project, A Foretold Affair, for a discount! GB Patch Bundle

Story:

The story begins when our nameable protagonist finally transfers into the boarding school of her dreams at the start of her junior year in high school. It would be perfect if it wasn't for that little catch attached to her enrollment: her parents will only let her keep attending the school for her remaining two years if she doesn't make everyone there hate her by shunning them, like she always does.

Do your best to show just enough interest in the other losers around to appease the folks while still having time to chase after all the attractive guys in the MC's afterschool group, which just so happens to be a group for chronically unfriendable people.

No, seriously folks. When we say the protagonist and main love interests are a big ol' jerk squad it's not a mistake and it's not an understatement.

Features:

  • 3 distinct jerky main boyfriend options: Everett Gray, Nate Lawson, and Shiloh Fields

  • 6 side characters who'll be your buddies and 6 minor clique boyfriend options, each with a bonus effect that makes the game easier

  • Partial Voice acting for every significant character by a talented cast

  • The option to break up with your bf and start dating someone else, if you feel like it

  • A variety of methods to manage your Reputation with the unimportant students

  • Part-time jobs, stores to visit, useful items, optional mini-games, an in-game phone to call a guy up and arrange a date at one of several different locations

  • Over 132,000 words. Hundreds of different events, including a collage-style ending system where you get events for every goal you achieved during the game

  • Cheat codes for those who don't give a f*ck about gameplay and just wanna see the events

Cast List:

Everett Gray: DJ Horn

Nate Lawson: Belsheber Rusape

Shiloh Fields: Brendan Blaber

Bae Pyoun: Griffin Puatu

It's fun definitely, the characters are interesting and their scenarios but I just wish I could relate more to the character I'm portraying. I'm glad it isn't a silent protagonist but I wish there were more options even if they don't do much in conversations as I can't relate to the MC or even customise her in a fun way as all the accessories have pre-set colour. overall the game just feels like you are in the back silently following someone else's story that most people don't even want to be part of it apparently. I haven't finished it so and am enjoying so there are just some nitpicks that bothered me, as the moments are fun and so are the interactions which I want to explore with other future options.

This VN really brings out my OCD like no other VN i have played with its popularity and friendship mechanics. Anyone else end up making their own freaking chart to combine all the information of cliques and work locations? None the less I do enjoy this VN, it has a lot of charm. It is a rather funny VN. With the mechanics to consider it is a bit more challenging than others I have played. The art and music are decent too.

I'm going to sob. I enjoyed a lot of aspects of this game, but I spent such a long time trying to get the Champion achievement. It's not working. I almost broke down. I spent hours and hours grinding for those clique guys, and nothing- there was nothing. I played OLBA and tried XOXO for Jeremy, and I loved it. I loved Bae's route (Pran's route was meh but I loved all the other guys too) but PLEASE I JUST WANT MY ACHIEVEMENT. I WANT TO RECOMMEND THIS GAME SO badly BUT IT'S KILLING ME. 30 hours in please lemme at least get the Champion achievement. Filled the guy list, and repeated the game a few times. I checked the discussion page and saw similar problems from other users. GB Patch, love this game, OLBA and OL2, but please fix this. Couldn't get the feather boa accessory and band-aid too. 7/10 game, 3 points taken off because it took away my chance to experience the euphoria of being a completionist.

I'm laughing while writing this, why you might be wondering? Because this is probably one of the funniest otome games i've ever played. Now, I haven't finished playing, but I have to say there hasn't been dull moment yet. All of the characters are unique ,and special in their very own way, and their differences make for great comedic moments. That also goes for mc, whose confidence knows no bounds, she is absolutely hilarious because of it, and very likable too. I'm a fan of confident mc's you see, especially this one, whom seems to be a little delusional in the fact that she believes all the boys want her , and heck she may very well be right, but if she isn't you can't convince her otherwise. And I love her because of that, and honestly you will too, because she is real good fun. There is not a negative thing I can say, I am really liking this game. I'm playing Jeremy right now ,and so far , while he doesn't show his like for mc in a straight forward manner. You can tell he likes her by the simple fact that he tries in his interactions with her, which you learn is quite difficult for some of the guys in the unfriendables. An example would be like when they are on a date , the little germaphobe makes a compromise to hold mc's hand so long as she washes them very well. I personally find that to be very charming, and hilarious. Especially when you see how much of a downer he is, did I mention he likes Disco music. An oddly upbeat genre for someone as pessimistic as he, but it makes him all the more charming. It's honestly a very unique ,enjoyable game, and I haven't even played the full extent of it. And ,they even offer a free version , where you can play three of the guy's route for free, so honestly why not give it a go. I feel it is 100% worth it, everyone needs a laugh ,and great quirky characters in their life.

This game is awesome. Ive finished all the main routes, just have a few side routes to complete everything, and ive enjoyed it alot. There's plenty to do, plenty of people to talk and interact with. And the random elements keep things interesting even after your third or fourth play through, when you know exactly what is going to happen when on the main story line. Oh and if the three guys you can date arnt unlikeable enough for you, do pick up the full version of the game. The three guys it adds are really pieces of work. All in all a recommend at the full asking price, and a no brainer on the free version. If dating sims are your thing, this is a must have.

This review is based off of the full, paid-for version of the game, which I definitely recommend. There are far less guys to date in the free version. This isn’t your average romance sim. The guys that the player can romance are … well, asocial and often antagonistic. I guess one could call this a “tsundere” fan sort of thing, but I’m going to explain why that’s not actually accurate. One might be concerned that the game is problematic. Why should the protagonist have to date guys who are going to treat her poorly? Well, here’s the thing: she’s a jerk too. She is definitely not a delicate flower who gets her feelings hurt easily. I, too, am not a fan of stories in which a protagonist’s role in the story is to be a bandage for some bad boy who eventually changes. This story actually isn’t about changing anyone. That’s why I argue that it isn’t truly “tsundere” because that implies that the characters change enough to become friendlier. They never do. They’re as antagonistic at the end of the game as they were in the beginning. The only difference is that if the player dated them enough, they’ve developed romantic feelings for the protagonist. So, instead of getting the typical “let’s change this romantic interest for the better,” the player gets to experience what it’s like to simply accept someone for who they are, flaws and all. I’m not saying there’s no romantic value in the typical kind of “tsundere” story, but it was really refreshing to me to play a game that’s about acceptance rather than changing someone to better suit you. At times when the protagonist does try to get the guys she dates to do something they normally wouldn’t, it’s because they seem so unhappy about the way they are. The guys never change, but they are more open-minded to things. This is technically spoilers, but I figure anyone interested in the game might like to know what they’re getting into. The Six Main Guys: Everett – Fashionista, hot-headed, curses a lot, selfish, conceited, loves his mom a lot, best friends with Nate Nate – Perfectionist, overachiever, lawful, extremely high standards for everyone and himself, has no chill, obsessed with independence, likes necklaces, best friends with Everett Shiloh – People pleaser, people manipulator, can never truly know when he’s being genuine, likes hats, eager to be with protagonist Bae – Condescending and sarcastic almost constantly, a tad flamboyant, obsessed with being more adult than his peers, cares about academics, adores cute pajamas, has way too many pairs of glasses, likes children, calls everyone by nicknames Jeremy – Extremely cynical, nihilistic, a pushover, prevents himself from having fun, a germophobe, skillful at fixing things and archery, likes animated films, best friends with Pran Pran – Often quiet, has neglectful parents, has trust issues, believes there are no truly good people, hates liars, stubborn af, likes drawing, friends with Jeremy There are also “side boyfriends” but they don’t have CGs or as much character development. I was actually really disappointed that Lucas wasn’t a main guy, because I really liked his character. He doesn’t know how to talk to people, so he panics and ends up antagonizing people he actually wants to be friends with. “Clique boyfriends” don’t even have character art or personalities. They’re literally just a bonus mechanism in the game. Another thing I enjoyed about the game was the humor. I think I might’ve laughed during this game more than any other, but it’s difficult to account for every game I’ve ever played. It’s definitely high in the ranking though. The story definitely utilizes what’s known as “schadenfreude,” the universal term for humor derived from someone else’s misfortune. None of it is extreme though. It’s usually just confusion, minor embarrassment, and inconveniences, not actual harm to characters. Minor complaints:

No polyamory option. I would’ve loved it if one could have more than one boyfriend.
Kam’s character was boring, but that’s just my perspective.
Clique boyfriends were included in the Guy List, which makes the achievement “The Champion” extremely annoying to get unless you use the cheat code.
Why isn’t Lucas on the Guy List?
The protagonist complains about the guys’ clothes way too much.
Too many typos, not enough proofreading.
Bonuses:

Queer representation, despite it being about a cis/hetero female protagonist going after guys. Everett is bisexual and Bae is asexual. Most of the other guys’ sexual orientations are left ambiguous other than they’re attracted to women.
Racial diversity, as more than half of the romanceable characters are non-white. The protagonist is also non-white.
The questioning of social norms.
I recommend this game to anyone who wants an atypical romance sim experience.

If you like kiss scenes and romantic moments galore then this is not for you :) I reccomend playing "Our Life" instead but if you enjoy stat management and a slice of life jerk rom-com that is barely fluff and moreso dialouge and forced dating then have at it!! P.S Our Life is the best 10/10 stars for that game go get it now!!!! That game should be 20$ and this one should be free af

I wish I could give a mixed review instead of yes or no here. I am leaning towards no since this game is just so tedious to get to the good stuff. The good stuff is very good but it's just so buried. If you're looking for something similar to Our Life, this isn't it. This game is very tedious with all of the daily min/maxing you have to do. Even if you use cheat codes, it's STILL somewhat tedious and the amount of time you spend to get one piece of story, or learn something new about a character, or go out with someone... This system was really just not my thing. For the characters, everyone is a jerk here, that's what I signed up for and that's what I got. The main character is the worst though, and not in a good way. Her humor wears off quick after she tries to throw herself at any guy that moves and breathes as much as possible. For the other main guy characters that I have had time to pursue or hang around with, I did really enjoy learning more about them and being able to see past that jerkiness. I have no complaints about the art or music, and the voice actors are great too. The partial voice acting works fine. There seem to be some voice lines with lower quality (buzzing) but it didn't bother me too much. Those were very rare. The writing is good and I didn't see any typos. The last thing for me, and I'm sure it sounds petty: Dialogue with frequent swears... all censored! I thought that was going to be an option I could toggle. It's not. There's no option to disable the text censoring. You have to deal with asterisks constantly from some of the characters. It really, really takes me out of the game seeing that. What the f**k? With all this said I really want to learn more about the characters. I like them. But it's going to be a long term project since it's so time consuming and tedious...it's hard to want to "play" this game.
