  I'm not sure what I expected exactly, but this game ends up feeling like an RTS set in an ecology context (Study of organisms interacting with each other and their environment) It's far more about the food chain than it is about genetics because they are traits you're just picking that determine how they interact with the other organisms in their area. I guess I was hoping for a game about evolution and genetics, not "genes are magic upgrades that you brute force with points". I mainly decided to try this out due to my childhood interactions with SimEarth and SimLife, but it doesn't feel like either of those admittedly ancient games. Beyond the little challenge missions that are essentially mechanics tutorials, your job is essentially to increase the % of the animal biosphere you control. You spawn multiple species and tinker with their genes (upgrades) to help you achieve dominance. It ends up being very micromanagy with the constant use of invade/protect which just forces a den of one of your species to slaughter a target that is within size range and competes for a food source. You also need to manage prey being able to avoid predation enough not to go extinct, and predators have to get enough food to survive without being too efficient and killing off all of their prey animals. Performance wise I crashed every time I completed a scenario and tried to start a new one. Game also gets pretty laggy at the max speed when a map fills up with animals, but x2 speed worked even if it felt slower than I was used to. A lot of hurry up and wait punctuated with very fast bloodbaths made the pacing in large games feel a bit difficult since the game doesn't slow does automatically. Also some issues with the ui not having the conveniences I'd expect like being able to easily pop out of menus that only cover a small section of the screen causing you to be unable to select other things until you manually clicked the cancel button on them. Overall, I would maybe get 3-5 hours out of the game in its current state. For me, the pricepoint is too high for that, so I'm choosing to refund. Might be worth it on sale, but I don't see a lot of replayability once you've run through most of the scenarios to get an idea of what it's about. There are positive aspects I enjoyed, but this essay is long enough so I'll defer to positive reviews on what the strong points of the game are.

  After playing the game and refunding it, I suspect most of the reviews here are fake. It's not really a genetic strategy game. If anything it is a food chain strategy game. But really more like a food chain idle game. So pretty misleading.

  Like to do a mixed review but you can only like or dislike: Its ok If you play one map you have played all maps. The customisation of the specieses is rather shallow and there is a hard limit to how far one animal can be evolved. You're likely to spend most of the time being annoyed by the notification sounds of other dens. Some perfomance issues during late game in the customisation menu but that might be on my end

  Not a very dense strategy game. I wouldnt call it a strategy game at all. Too simplistic and I would not recommend the game. Refunded after playing for 30 minutes.

  A friend asked me to try this game, so I did and... I enjoyed it quite a bit! You control a den of cute little animals. What do these animals do? They eat and multiply, so you guide them until you have enough of them to form a second den. 🥰 You control two dens of cute little animals. What do these animals do? They... mutate and brutally kill other species? 😶 ...So you guite them until your species are the only ones left. 🥰 The game consists of a series of challenges ranging from introductory levels teaching you game mechanics to more difficult and bigger maps which require more of your brain power. If you are a 100% completionist, then this game might frustrate you a bit as it's not easy to completely eradicate other species from the map. Nevertheless, after some game, you find out that the strategy you are using 'til aren't the best ones, so you think of different plans, try being more aggressive, taking your lime, choosing different genomes, abandoning your older dens... until you overcome even the hardest challenges. (...Well, that is something I still need to do.) The graphics are very cute, especially when your fluffy bunnies start swinging axes at other adorable species. Even though at first the maps mights seem a bit bland, they actually show you as much as they need to – you are not overwhelmed with information while the scenery still looks pretty. Territory: Animals Genetic Strategy looks to be a project that I can get behind. While there are some things that could be polished, the game already offers you hours of (imo fun) gameplay. My main QoL suggestion would be "Allow players to move the map (WASD) even when the game is paused" and my main gameplay suggestion would be "Create an option for a den relocation (making it cost MP per block moved or sth like that)".

  Nice relaxing game if you just want that. However, it is EXTREMELY laggy at late game. and after ~7y, your save file will stop working sometimes
