  Sprained my wrist and elbow a week ago. Decided to play this last night. Flinched so bad it feels like I re-sprained my whole arm. Damn good atmosphere.

  Really grimy visceral horror game, Puppet Combo always scares me even as a life long genre fan. SOOTH is very challenging, but also very rewarding. Love the retro aesthetic and uncompromising brutal demeanor of it all, massive respect to the developer. This gameplay style isn't my favorite, took me a few attempts to get through Nun Massacre, I prefer The Glass Staircase/Murderhouse ect. But SOOTH is well executed enough that I was able to get into it. I did encounter some pretty gamebreaking bugs but reloading saves/brute force I was able to get past them. A lot of jank in this game could definitely use some more polish. Jumping into the vent on the lower bunker level was insanely annoying. It's not perfect but honestly I wouldn't want it to be that's part of the charm. Just the amount of mental/emotional strain the player goes through during a Puppet Combo game is hilarious I love it lol. The puzzles are also a huge improvement over previous titles. The ending I got was extremely macabre this game doesn't mess around. Overall I'm glad I waited for the full release and plan on trying some more endings. Horror fans if you don't know these guys yet this is a good one to start with. 8.5/10

  This game is a diamond that is rough around the edges. The level design, atmosphere, aesthetic and audio are top tier. Puppet Combo is always consistent with their content. The main enemy of the game however does seem to extremely random to a fault. Appearing out of thin air, or a lot of the time his footsteps just stop being a thing, giving me no chance to alter my route in order to avoid him. I don't know what it is, but I never had these problems with Murder House. The game is exceptionally hard. Expect trial and error that will make you rip your hair out. Unfortunately it does feel like a lot of the progress I make, whenever made, doesn't feel very fulfilling, but rather that I just got some stroke of dumb luck with the randomness of the killer. I'd also like to add that basically 8 out of 10 times I blow my cover with this guy, it's complete death sentence. But everything else about the game. There's so much going on. The puzzles are engaging For a fairly small game, there definitely seems to be heaps to explore, this is by far the most detailed map I've ever encountered in any Puppet Combo game. All the strengths of this game just make me overlook the gripes I have about the main enemy. It is definitely the scariest and hardest game they've made, however after a while, frustration may take over any feelings of spooked or scared with the trial and error. Definitely recommend this developer's entire catalogue to any early Resident Evil fans and 80's slasher fans. These guys cater to the ways of old in horror, and are masters at that homage. May this subgenre of retro/ VHS horror games live on and thrive,

  I really wanted to like this game. I've been trying to get into horror games as of late and I'd heard nothing but praise for Puppet Combo's games. And since this was the latest release from them I thought I'd give it a go. The game starts out as genuinely fairly creepy in act one, though I really wasn't a fan of how long it took for progression triggers to occur. I also had trouble working out where to put some of the items back where they belonged, but that could just be a me thing. The second act was also frustrating. Like act one, it started out with a great vibe and atmosphere, but it quickly turned into frustration as I had a lot of trouble finding the TINY path in the wheat field behind the red ute. It took me 20 minutes to find that opening, and I only did so after hugging the wall. It was reeeally hard to see. After that it was smooth again and the atmosphere came back. Act 3 is where I gave up. I understood what the game was trying to accomplish. It's clearly trying to take the first part of RE7 and turn it into a whole ass game, and that's a fantastic concept. But man... I can't help but feel like either my game is bugged or I was doing something wrong. I'll list my issues in dot points: -Granny's wheelchair makes.. NO noise. At all. I don't know if this is intentional but I got caught by her constantly because she'd sneak up on me. -An addendum to granny, she's also REALLY FAST. I also don't know if this is intentional but combined with the sheer silence of her wheelcheer she also comes tokyo drifting around corners at a ridiculous speed, giving me little time to react if I'm doing something else. -The butcher does make noise.. sometimes. Sometimes I can hear him stomping around the house, and sometimes I can't. It could be an immersion thing, like I'm too focused on a lock or something to hear him but I don't think that's the case. He's fine, otherwise. -Jumping up into vents is really hard and the controls for this, specifically, are confusing. I thought I'd worked out that you have to hold space but that doesn't always work, so I end up in a panic and either have to run off somewhere else or just get caught. -Returning to volume, some sounds were REALLY LOUD and others were quiet. For example, the first time you get caught, removing the door pins makes an ear piercing noise that actually hurt , whereas other things are just weirdly quiet, including some dialogue in Night Shift. I reaaaally want to like this game and I'm willing to give it another shot at another point in time, but I really don't like having my time wasted. The stealth just needs so much more work. I hate that I didn't enjoy this. Maybe I'm too impatient for a horror/stealth immersion sim but being frustrated just killed the entire vibe of the game, where there was potential to really feel terrified.
