What is Martial Law?

Right now, it's the framework of a single and multi-player survival game. I emphasize the word "framework". As of now, it has the basic functions and mechanics developed over months upon months by a one-man development team. It is *not*, I repeat *NOT* a complete game. If what you want is a complete game, DON'T buy it.

What you are doing by purchasing is supporting an indie developer who has built a mechanical framework and core that will be continually expanded upon in constant cooperation with the community. What you are doing by purchasing is guaranteeing that Prophet can continue to work full time (actually, significantly more than "full time") on the development. What you are doing is funding the continued expansion of the game, whether that means actual additional paid staff or new equipment to build and test the game, or just keeping Prophet from having to split his time between multiple jobs.

Who shouldn't purchase

  • Someone who is looking for a finished game

  • Someone who doesn't want to help grow and develop a true indie title

  • Someone who really can't afford the price for something that isn't a finished product

  • Someone with no patience for the unavoidable bugs and delays in WIP software

Who should purchase

  • Someone who wants to play a role in building a real, non-zombie based survival game

  • Someone who can afford the price without raiding the piggy bank

  • Someone who is patient, and understands the pitfalls and tribulations of a one-man dev team

  • Someone who really is passionate about indie games

  • Someone who just wants to try something completely new

I urge you to think twice, and think deeply before you purchase this game. I believe we are being completely up-front with what it is, and what it isn't. If you have *ANY* doubts, we would strongly encourage you not to buy it now, and instead wait until more features you want have been added. However, if you like what you have seen so far, I welcome you to help Prophet out with a purchase, so that the game can proceed at pace to its eventual full implementation. The more purchases are made, the more resources can be put into speeding up the development, hiring staff, paying artists for contributions, et cetera. So what’s working? As of release, the following things (we will update the description as more features are implemented)

Current Features

  • Match Mode

Arena based, jet-pack having, super jumping fun, or more realistic CTF, Team Deathmatch, or FFA matches.

  • Level Editor

The level editor is meant to be a simple, yet powerful editor that will allow the community to build content and tell their own stories in the Martial Law universe.

  • SinglePlayer

This will be the strength of Martial Law compared to most other survival games. Right now, the framework is a good portion of the way to completion, with (mostly) working inventory, a large open world (not yet really populated), functional AI (limited), and vehicles.

planned Features

  • Building

Building in Martial Law will be a simple process of collecting the items you need to craft the object you want to build or place the random pieces of debris you have collected from around the world to build your own survival shelter, traps, or works of art.

  • Crafting

Crafting at first will be a basic recipe system. You can find recipes by exploring the different areas in the world, meeting people that have already learned the skills that are willing to teach you or research the craft-able items that you find, steal, or trade for in the game.

  • Bartering

Trading is important to secure your survival and so there will be a simple system giving players a secure place to trade, buy, or sell goods with other players. There will be no "Store" to exploit or pay to win, and all items will need to be found or created in-game

  • Agriculture

Just like in the real world an area can be over hunted very easily and so learning how to grow and raise your own food is important.

  • Exploration

Sometimes it is nice to be able to give your legs a rest. Players will be able to travel by multiple means on land, air, and sea.

Thank you for reading this, and thanks for your interest in Martial Law.

They removed my favourite game from steam, for some reason they also remove all reviews for it, so in term of transparency I'm hijacking this game to put my review for a game that is no longer available on steam since 2016. Valve, pls remove games no reviews, thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I really like how most negative reviews, the players leaving them only has around an hour of gameplay. Now on my review. Is this game perfect? NO. Is this game p2w? Maybe. Is this game fun? Yes. Q: Is this game perfect? A: With every game on the market, it bound to be problems with it. Let's start first with gameplay. This is a tactical shooter, pray and spray doesn't work in here, what works is having patience. Make your movements based on enemy movements and as the name says, “tactical shooter”, have tactics on how to attack and defend, don’t go running. Due to the fact that this game is 99.99% team-based, it is extremely frustrating to play, and I mean really frustrating. People still don’t understand that having a lot of kills means nothing in this game, it should be more rewarding for a player to attack / defend a point, than getting just a kill. The developers should do something in regard with matchmaking, because as is right now, is pretty bad, you get matched with people from top 10, even though you are on place 2630. I rather wait 5 minutes for a game, but at least put me in a game within the same rank category. Not sure what to say in regard with the maps and that’s because I have mixed feelings about them, some of them are good, but some of them are just plain bad. Yet again, because this game is team-based, if you have even two people bad in your team, you will still lose because of that. One of this example is Metro, is a linear map, 3 ways to get on point, if the other team has 3 snipers and you have 3 snipers but are less good, then is fair to say that you won’t win this map and this is because of the lack of attack points on the map. Cheaters? Big problem and every time you bring this point to the developers, they will tell you one of the two things: 1. "We are working to improve the anti-cheat system" or 2. "Use the in-game report system, in order to report a hacker". Let’s start with the first point. WE DO NOT SEE THIS HAPPENING, there are still hackers in the game and a lot of them, most of them extremely hard to identify, because you don’t know if they are really good at the game or simply just using hacks. We suggested killcams to be introduced in the game, but apparently they don’t want to use extra resources for them. Second point, reporting someone in-game does not give me any insurance that someone checked that person, heck I don’t even know that you received the report. Q: Is this game p2w? A: I would tend to say maybe. Progressing though weapons is a hard task, it takes a very long time to unlock weapons, armour, upgrades, devices etc…, you can pay to unlock stuff quicker which does give you an advantage over other players who has to play for a very long time to unlock the weapon that you unlocked in 2 seconds by paying money. I am an example of that person. I started playing this game 2 years ago, since closed beta, at that times the weapons were limited and much cheaper to unlock, based on your character level, rather than Tier. When open beta hit, everything changed, more weapons were introduced and progressing through them was taking very long. I quit the game because it became very frustating. Came back after 5 months, same thing, but I decided to buy come coins in order to get new weapons. Not that my character is max at everything, it is easy for me to say that paying, does help. Q: Is this game fun? A: Yes, once you have the last weapon, get in a game with a good team, nice map and no hackers, this game is very fun, even getting draw, you really have that satisfaction that you did your best and had fun while doing it. Q: Do I recommend this game? A: If you start from low rank and expect to be the best within 5 months without paying anything, NO. If you start the game from low rank and expect to be the best within a year without paying anything, YES. But you will need to understand that you will get really frustating with the game, when your team is bad, hackers are in the lobby, your team doesn't know how to play and you get matched with players from top 10. This game has extreme potential, not going to lie. The dev (1 I believe) actually listens to your feedback. This game is in its early stages, but I'm already excited to see how this turns out. Pros (As of now) - A pretty big world, from what I can tell - The animations, there are actually animations - Actual AI that don't charge through walls - The game looks nice, just not a lot of grass (future updates?) - NO ZOMBIES - Good gun textures - There is a car, wonky, but hey, faster then running wouldn't you say? Now for the cons, (none are game-breaking) - I can't seem to drop items? Maybe I'm just missing it though, Accidently grabbed two pistols. - You seem to get stuck on the door ways - When I open the inventory, the game pauses (It is "I", correct?) - Multiplayer doesn't have a chat button! (Prophet you joined my game, but I couldn't say hello!! :( ) Not a con, just a question, I can't seem to find the big city, like the one in the startup menu? Overall, the game has a neat concept to it, and I thoroughly believe the game will get much better. The developer seems to be very commited to the game, as he has roughly 300 hours into the game. Keep in mind, if you buy this game, you are in no way getting a finished product, but it is actually playable, and quite enjoyable I must say. If you have a couple of bucks to spend on the game, go for it. I know I will continue to help the dev make this game better, and more polished! Great work Prophet :)

First off, let me say that the trailer for this game is unreliable and borerlines false advertisement. PLEASE keep in mind what you see in that trailer is NOWHERE NEAR comparable to your in game experience. In fact, I will go so far as to say that until the game is built in the manner the trailer portrays it...the trailer should be removed. This game has potential, but I cannot recommend it at it's current asking price. At least not yet. The single player is nothing more than a sandbox mode. I'm not sure if it's automatically online and I can't seem to find a multiplayer option in the menus anywhere. I've played for about 9 minutes, my experience in such a short time wasn't too great and was even enough to decide this game is just not what it portrays itself to be. I know, 9 minutes is hardly enough time for some users to judge a game with....that is if you're new to gaming. (lol. Please, a gamer who knows his or her salt will know instantly what's junk and what's gold). Upon starting I liked that I was given a knife, pistol and a car. I could have also kept the house I spawned in if I wanted to but decided to venture out. I drove up the road in the car and started taking damage. I got out and took cover and suddenly a random NPC appeared for about 2 seconds then glitched and disappeared. I stopped taking damage up until I explored an empty house, something was shooting at me but I couldnt identify it. It was able to shoot through walls and any cover I tried to take. No matter how far I ran whatever it was damaged me until I finally died. Wilflife NPC's look pretty poor. The wolves walk in a very fixed and stiff pattern like WoW when they should wander naturally. Also, wolves in the wild don't usually keep that close to civilization do they? Like literally in backyards? The AI is terrible and glitches, you'll get shot at by nothing and seemingly no one at all. Don't bother taking cover, whatever it is can shoot through hills, cars, trees, houses. Pretty much just stand still and die when you begin taking damage. NPC's disappear after you kill them. No blood or bodies left. Never got to see any building or crafting as of yet because I only got to explore one house before some unidentifiable hostile killed me by shooting me through a giant rock. There is NO storyline whatsoever. You spawn in a random house, and that's it. I would have liked to see more of this game, but every time I spawned I would die in this same fashion. This was every time I drove into town. It was annoying enough among everything else to quit. I hope I can get a refund for this until the game improves. The only thing about this game so far that I can say is positive is the performance. It runs smoothly and the graphics are nice. But the game needs MUCH more than that to be worth 15$ At the moment, I cannot say it's worth it until the devs fix it.

My reviews and discussions can be found here http://steamcommunity.com/app/346150/discussions/0/618463446155478755/ Keep in mind this game is in EARLY ACCESS and is no where complete. https://youtu.be/Af3yfkwiVms ***NEW REVIEW SINCE UPDATE*** Pros - Nicer graphics as to some early access games that are out. - Runs smoother then most early access games. - Developers listen to the community and fix the issues at hand. - Sound in game are more clear and clean since the new update - Physics to downed NPC's (bodies still disappear but at a slower rate) - Food and water levels feel realistic Cons - Trailer is no where near where the games development is. - AI are dumb (They have been fixed to a certain extent but their mapping is way off walking into invisible walls, they have eyes in the back of their head's meaning they see you from places they shouldn't.) - No one was on arena mode so I can't tell you about it. - Not much to do at the moment from what I see - No crafting For what's in the game at the moment its really not worth the $15 there's just not much to do in my opinion. As of right now I DO NOT recommend this game on the sole purpose that there is no content other then exploring, HOWEVER If you like being apart of a community that helps shape a game through its development stages then join in and help out, if you hate bugs and slow content then is game is not for you as of right now. The game is playable and looks great however it is really up to you if its worth the $15.

Guys remember this is early access, if you dont know what this means then in short its still in development. Now I saw this on my Early Access 'coming soon' thread and jumped on the game when it came out and was on sale. I wouldnt recommend buying at full value at this time because the game is only just playable. That being said it is playable to a degree and has potential. The game looks great at the moment, however the mechanics are sadly lacking. Here are a list of pro's and con's. Pro's Great idea and potential Graphics are good Cars already implimented 2 weapons already implimented with fairly good skins Enemies implimented in a basic form Some basic inventory present Some basic food/water/stamina implimented Con's Firearms and bullets need a lot of work Enemies need a ton of work AI wise Not much to do in game Buggy housing and towns means you get trapped or have to jump stairs Cars - working a little but no player visible in the car on 3rd person Crafting not implimented Sounds are a bit off. Trailer is massively misleading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrf1vNBnblU

this game does not work in ubuntu 14.04. it may be a unity issue and not necesarily the dev as theres an issue with the movement and other game keys not working properly. also the menus dont render properly where you select the resolution and when trying to enter the truck at the start area the game immediately locks up. the game is completely unplayable for me and may affect other versions of ubuntu or linux
