Last Embryo is a generally mediocre experience. The writing is unremarkable and leans a too heavily on the usual tropes, and it's more than just the fantasy tropes. The frequency of deus ex machina is quite ridiculous. Characters are shallow and one-dimensional. I couldn't really care less about any of them. The English translation did not help here, it is pretty poorly done. Although it it's all generally understandable, grammar and spelling mistakes are frequent. Sometimes entire words are even missing. It's close to a proper translation, yet far enough to come off as uncanny. The game's sound design appears to be entirely stock. I definitely recognized the menu sounds, and was frequently reminded of much better games. I'm not entirely certain, but I believe all the music is stock as well. If not, then I suppose it's just generic enough for me to make that mistake. The art is, okay. I suppose it's the one thing the game has going for it, but it's mostly unremarkable as well. I think the only thing I particularly liked was the main character's battle sprite and animations. The H-scenes are really short, but are probably the best art in the game. I can't say that's all that great though, since that only earns a recommendation to find the cg set somewhere online and download that. The actual gameplay is overly simplistic and monotonous. You only get one character and equipment is a straight line of upgrades with no real variety. There is a bonus point system for some customization, but my auto assumption that dumping everything into attack and agility seems to be correct, so no real depth there. I found myself mashing through its battles since it all required no real thought. Bosses are particularly atrocious. Many of them are more cinematic where a deus ex machina will carry you through the whole fight, and the ones not like this are just as brain dead as the regular encounters. On the off chance anything actually kills you, you just get thrown back to the last inn, but you keep all your progress and only lose the items you had used. From there, it takes seconds to get back to the encounter to try again. This makes the game very forgiving, but it makes it feel even more monotonous. By far, the worst thing a game can be is unremarkable, and that's exactly what Last Embryo is. It's not bad enough to be fun, nor is it good enough to be fun. It's just okay, and that's NOT fun. If you can get Last Embryo on sale for $5 or less, then maybe it's worth a buy... maybe.

Bad story, bad translation, art is okay, but there is not enough of it

For a H-game has quite a heart warming, comedic and sad story. It was quite a splendid surprise and worth time playing if you are into the story. Now combat isn't super complicated with only single character to use while u get occasional support a very basic combat but looks great nonetheless. Again a great ride to play. story- 8/10 art- 8/10 combat- 7/10

Stock standard fem protag hrpg, but with some very strange story direction. Combat wise it uses the system where agility decides how often you can attack, and there's a little bit of strategy with skills doing more at higher TP levels, but it's never very complex. The map is very nicely done though. Instead of the usual rpgmaker tilesets we have a custom drawn map with a bunch of points of interest, which you can interact with at your leisure. No random encounters, and even some hidden things to find early on, though that aspect sadly vanishes by the third quest, rip pickaxe. The sex scenes are mostly game over rape for the various bosses, with some variants based on... I have no idea what. There's a button to auto unlock everything after the final boss, so it's not a huge issue. There's also a few scenes dotted around the various maps, marked with a heart icon instead of the usual orb. On the whole they're nicely drawn, and the translation doesn't butcher them too badly. The real weirdness comes in the story, I feel like the writer had an idea for a big epic story half way through making this and just couldn't contain themselves and decided to smash it into the last hour rather than pace it properly, or devote a whole game to it. Which is a shame because it still kind of works, it's just horribly rushed. TLDR 8/10. Gameplay is good, scenes are nice if you like game over rape, story is a bit half baked but still fine, translation is workable.

Oh boy, this one is yet another bait and switch. I need to start this review off by pointing that the "sexual content" tag is a bit misleading. I mean, yeah, it's there but... It's so hamfisted in it feels incredibly out of place. All of the loss-related scenes(of which there's 15 I believe so not many?) are introduced as being dreams / not really happening, so the game's adult content is purely optional, especially because it's incredibly difficult to actually lose in this game, in any fight. Even then, the base game itself requires a patch to see the content, so it's really a non-issue. To get a feel for what I mean, Split of Knight had the same issue. Similar to that game, this game is a perfectly competent game, even without the horny gamer bait. So on that I'll talk about the gameplay. The reason why it's hard to lose is because the game is incredibly easy, to the point it just feels like a vehicle for the story to progress. I didn't hate it, however. It is extremely simple, boiling down to : guard to generate TP, use enemy's weakness / the ultimate ability once you unlock it, rinse and repeat. I wish there was more to it but this is a very simple game. Which leads me to believe this game was built as narrative-first. I have nothing wrong with this and I would say that the battle segments add to the tension and atmosphere of the story, but it does feel more like a visual novel that has RPG-maker fights as visual story telling. The story itself is fantastic but... its major fault is the translation, and I mean it is BAD, and the fact that it's incredibly short I beat this game in 4 hours. The art and music both are really good. It reminds me of that banging guitar track in MGQ where it unironically slaps so hard that I completely forgot what kind of game I was playing. Same situation here. I assume all the art and music was made for the game and I liked it a lot. Not to mention they use this cool map-style overworld travel and it's pretty cool. Where this game fails is the translation, as said before it is VERY BAD. King's Exit, another great game(deleted the review as it was removed from Steam), had this issue too. I assume even the title is mistranslated because "Last Embryo" doesn't seem to refer to anything at all, not even with the end of the game. The dialogue is awkward and it's just kind of funny to read it and take the serious moments uh... seriously. So... Should you buy this game? I bought it on sale for, what, 8.69? It's not worth that price with 4 hour completion time but if you want to presumably support the developer(I dunno what's Otaku Plan's cut is, nevermind Steam's) and want a cheesy stereotypical JRPG game with hamfisted anime tiddies in it, then go ahead. I liked it for what it was, and I can't say it was a bad experience. I've played worse RPG-maker games.

"Either of Brave to Story" ... wtf does that even mean? Fortunately the localization is nowhere near as atrocious as the title would imply. Surprisingly, pretty much everything about this game rates average or better. The weakest points being the BGM and SFX - which still aren't bad, by any means, they just don't really stand out. While there are still plenty of grammatical errors, as already stated, it isn't as bad as the title implies - the grammar is good enough that you're never at a loss as to what's happening, even down to the finer details. The story is good, with my only complaint being that it feels like a prologue by the time it ends (I sincerely hope the second game gets completed soon), and the characters are great - with all of them being likable to varying extents. The CGs are shockingly good - not quite VN level, but among the best I've seen in HRPGs. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that most of the side characters also had at least one CG/scene themselves. I /would've/ liked to see more, but the relative scarcity did make each one that you got more impactful. A little more content would be nice, but as it stands you aren't being short-changed, and in fairness to the dev continuing from where this game ends would basically necessitate another whole game (which they do indicate is in the works at the end of this one). 8/10

Good RPG with a refreshing style, good story and likeable characters. It will be interesting to see how the story expands in Ark of Artemis.

Surprisingly enjoyable game, this may be the first JRPG iv beaten since i prefer VN's myself and find the JRPG genre to be outdated and boring. However, it didn't seem to bother me at all while playing; everything from the artwork, music, characters, and story are close to perfect, which is something I can't say for the sequel. Scene variety isn't that great, its mostly just rape on defeat, but that's more than made up for with solid artwork and writing. Combat on the other hand, gets no such saving grace; the only good thing i can say is the bosses were somewhat challenging. It suffers from the same combat system as 99% of JRPS and the genre as a whole is in dire need of a redesign. I highly recommend picking it up as its easily one of the best RPGM H games; however the price is a little steep so best to wait for a sale.
