  Everything about this game is so fun, If you like Pixel-adventure games then I think you'd be interested. All of the characters are so interesting, And I love all of the things you can do in it. I went in totally blind and got completely hooked!

  Kraken Academy is a nice little game about preventing the end of the world with your [strike]octopus[/strike] Kraken-buddy while trying to get along with your sister who unfortunately visits the same school as you. While there were some quests I struggled with, the gameplay is, despite the timetravel-action, pretty much straight-forward and easy to pick up. I really enjoyed the writing and the jokes and got a nice soundtrack and a perfectly fitting artstyle along the way. Regarding the length of the game, it's probably possible to beat the game in 3-4hrs, but I really recommend to do the side quests as well, because otherwise you'd miss big parts of the game. I completed the game with all of the achievments in ~8hrs. While a controller is not necessarely needed, I preferred it over playing with keyboard in this case. In my opinion, the game is not only perfect for people that enjoy a intriguing and fun story, but also, due to the game length, for people that only play casually and don't want to invest too much time into games. Also, smashing trashcans and collecting bottles is kinda addicting.

  After completing this game in 6 hours, as much as it was cute and different, it really is not worth the full price in my opinion which is why I am not recommending it. A lot of the dialogue is awkward, and it feels like I'm playing a game I would've created when I was 16 and still on Tumblr. Otherwise, it was relatively enjoyable though holding down shift to run the whole time was unnecessary - a "toggle" would be nice. I may play more to finish the achievements, but I was definitely hoping to have a game like this that I could spend a lot more time on. Cute concept but a very rushed plot - lacking character development, really, and unsure as to why you would give them character profiles if you only get 2 or 3 different dialogues out of them.

  Kraken Academy!! is an adventure game about using magical powers vested in you by a kraken to save your (very bizarre) school by solving students' problems to free spirits trapped within them. It's very silly, bright and colourful. This is kind of a neutral thumb from me. I had fun with the game, but it's pretty short and lacks some quality of life features, such as the ability to skip previously read text and mouse support (the keyboard controls were pretty bad). I did appreciate that there were two difficulty options on the QTEs and that the final boss fight, which uses different mechanics and requires a reaction time that most of the rest of the game doesn't, lets you turn on invulnerability. The humour is hit or miss but it did make me laugh and I found some of the puzzles pretty clever. Most of the character concepts are fun but they're pretty thin stereotypes for the most part (I think the character with the most depth was the pug!) and the conflicts that drive the main plot are kind of silly. Not a bad game, but I would recommend waiting for a sale.

  I bought this game for the "funny" tag (which is the first tag listed). However, except for the "what is the name of Mozart's favorite duck" thing at the beginning, I do not find anything funny. The goal is to free all 4 academy spirits, each in an animal form and represent a branch of the school. If you are familiar with Hogwarts you won't find it strange. At the beginning most parts of the school are locked, during daytime school do not have classes, rather, players are encouraged to wander around, in café or do dialogs like dating, punching things to get money, purchasing dorm decorations, receiving requests about finding objects. Time goes as you move, the first main mission is to get to the masquerade and free a spirit locked up in the broccoli girl. I had to call mom to pass time on the 3rd night. Broccoli girl looks interesting but only by her appearance. I do not find the dialog or the story fun or peculiar at all. However the clothes design is good. I got bored in the first half hour but decided to keep playing a while longer. After freeing the first spirit and done overall 1/4 of the game, I quit.

  I liked it, pretty easy casual game all the way through that feels good to play. Not much replay value but it's fun going after all the achievements which isn't too hard. The characters and art are really cute. The "ending" segment surprised me and was pretty cool. The time system is well implemented and makes sense. The game holds your hand through most of the necessary gameplay but you do have to go out of your way to find all the sidequests. I'd say the only negative is there isn't much for gameplay, but it's still pretty fun the first playthrough.

  Gave up after an hour. Dialogue reads like a child's stream of consciousness rant. Characters are one-note and universally irritating. Story seems to have no internal logic beyond being random for the sake of being random. Just not fun.
