  This game was so far ahead of its time back in the day. Even today, the closest thing I've seen to it is Planetside 2 but even that doesn't come close. Orange Bowl server would have battles that lasted DAYS! Not exagerating at all. DAYS. Could load up tanks and jeeps into chinooks and drop them near combat zones. God, I don't ask for much but please, PLEASE let someone revamp this game today. There was simply nothing like it before or after.

  Game has better vehicle support than Arma3. Want to take a humvee into battle? Drive it into the back of a Osprey. None of this scroll menu crap to load it in preset spots. Drive tanks onto an LCAC. Fit as many as you can physically. No limitations due to a "load in" menu. Apparently it's simple to do since this game from 09 has it. But in 2016 we don't have anything like it. Come on devs. Make shit good again. Oh, and being able to ride in vehicles basically anywhere. You literally just stand in it. Wanna shoot from vehicles? In Arma it's preset spots with shitty aiming arcs. On here, just stand facing out the side door of the UH-60, aim shoot. Need to shoot the other side? About face and take a few steps, repeat process. And you don't take damage from it either. Paradrop out of a C130 or something? Just stand inside and run out the back. I don't get why this isn't a thing in modern games.

  I bought this game when it was first released way back when. It was so good that I then bought a second copy so my son could have it on his PC and we could then both play online together or do the coop missions. I've now purchased the Steam digital copy so I can dump my old boxed copy. I think one single three letter word could sum up this game and that word is FUN! I've owned all the big releases over the years, all the CoDs, Medal of Honors, Battlefields etc and the only one that comes anywhere near to Joint Ops, when it comes to simple online fun, is Battlefield 2 and possibly MoH Tier 1. Large scale battles on big maps with large numbers of players... you can't beat it. Loads of vehicles, helicopters etc to drive/pilot, what more could you want! A modern day setting for combat, no rediculous and dull futuristic rubbish. Basic warfare, simple controls, not too much to think about. Just having FUN! The game still holds its own. True, the graphics are now slightly dated but you'd expect that though to be honest I still think it looks pretty good. There is the odd graphical glitch but that is rare more than often. I need to check out the online community. Other reviews mention it's still active which is good to hear. Single player missions still prove a challenge, especially if you're playing solo, so if you're not into online play you can still get some mileage out of the single player mode. I purchased this game when it was on sale at around £4. As of today (31/10/17) I can see Steam have it on offer for £3.74. What a BARGAIN!! I'm actively encouraging my son to grab a copy ASAP so we can try and meet up online. Lol. ;-)

  Just re-bought this game yesterday for the 3rd time since its release (like 15 years ago). it always was the best large scale tactical team FPS in my opinion and having tried many titles looking for a glossy graphics replacement there just isnt one to match.... (Arma could be considered the closest thing but its so complex i couldnt even seem find my way into a server and too a battle) so i installed and loaded eager to see if any players still grace the servers and amazingly there is still an online community... :) i fought 2 battles last night and really it was soo much fun. so there are clearly people who feel the same and i'd encourage anyone who used to love this game to pickup a copy in the sale and help boost the community. my concerns before purchase were Player Community online? - there are. maybe not consistently all the time but peak hours enough to relive the old days. also, i'm guessing the community is generally more mature... no salty toxic kids.... who wouldn't know what the game is. Graphics - you know the syndrome of picking up a very old game and being amazed how poor it looks, almost to the point it tars your great memories of it - well this isnt the case really with joint ops. Granted the menu graphics are very poor and i wasnt optimistic.. but to my suprise the in-game important bits are decent enough and i actually felt suprised how respectable it looks for a 10+ yr old game. Still the best things about JO for me are. Checkpoint attack defend based game style - a battle can go on for hours or days.. for sure a hard push is needed to make the break and win a game Large scale maps requiring some water/air/land based transportation cooperation - but not too large except on the 150 player servers (which im not sure would ever fill up anymore - i wish they would) Weapons loadouts and team co-operation. genuinely a team working well together with different loadouts (medics, engineers, spotters, riflemen) has a huge advantage.

  I loved this game when I was younger. I bought it again on Steam for the nostalgia, for the epic battles involving 150 players on virtually infinite maps, and because I red on the reviews that there was still a community of players. I know Novalogic has been purchased by THQ Nordic some months ago. But it seems they don't send you anymore the email with the activation link after you register on Novaworld (I tried with 3 different emails). Which is a shame because it is a mandatory step to complete your account! However, it seems it is still possible to join servers without validating your account. Besides, I've had many issues in game (freezing) which led me to reboot my laptop several times. There are still active servers indeed but I was not yet able to join any for the moment. I will try again before requesting a refund. EDIT: I'm now able to join the servers.

  I played this game when it first came out way back in 2004 or 2005, and had a blast playing on multiple 200 player servers based out of North America. But the game is now based out of France, and the only server left has barely sixteen people on it, and even with high speed net, if you're an old timer player from North America, like me, then you can barely get a kill due to high latency. Which is too bad, because even though the graphics are dated the actual gameplay has more content and battle space than modern shooters. Games like the Insurgency games, the Call of Duty Series, even CSGO all operate in confined areas. America's Army comes close, but has some control and AI stability issues, but in none of the previous games can you hop into a tank, chopper / gunship, or deliver mortar rounds. There's a lot of emphasis on pretty looking graphics, but there's so much trolling and hacking that modern games really aren't worth it. Regrettably, such is now the case with Joint Operations. If North American servers come back online, and with a very mild graphics and sound upgrade, then this game will have all the others beat. I truly miss this game, and hate to give it a thumbs down, but the regional servers are all gone, save for France, and nearly all the players are gone. Therefore, as of now, I cannot recommend it.

  Still the best FPS game. Too bad it hasn't had a remake. Hard to enjoy now with so few servers and players.

  RADICAL 100+ PLAYER COMBAT ACTION FOR ALL HAS LOADS OF FIREARMS AND VEHICLES WITH WELL EXECUTED MECHANICS WOULD RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE WITH COMPUTER

  One of the greatest games of all time. Novalogic is the reason I became a PC gamer with JO, and black hawk down the teamwork and friendships that occered were immpeccable.. Takes me back to my childhood. 10/10
