Game is not terrible, though its essentually a clicker with very little actual game play. You're just increasing numbers so you can gain even higher numbers. The mining sections while there's interaction with power ups and such, are more a measure if your progress is "tall enough to ride" you can finish some maps earlier than intended with some intelligent play, but that's extent to the depth of gameplay. The game honestly goes on a little too long. They could have cut the entire 3rd galaxy and the game been just fine to me, the game starts feeling a little long in the tooth around the start of the 3rd galaxy. at least 35 of my nearly 60 hours was in the 3rd galaxy. Also whoever on the dev team decided what you go through on the planet Apollo needed to be a thing. There's a special place in hell for you, you know what you did. On the positive side, the game has a good progression cycle that makes you bounce back between each of its aspects to progress effective and well. This constant changing of where you need to focus makes the game feel less grindy than it is, and you only start feeling the grind as you start to complete aspects and have less to focus on (when you're down to just leveling crew exp, you feel like you wanna try dying). The game also has an overabundance of many of its resources so you don't ever really feel stuck in one place cause you desperately need something, there's more drill chips and planetary cores than there's needed to max everything. For example, blocks for collection can be auto mined on a timer while you do other tasks till you get them all, this was handled well in my opinion. One thing I think they did truly screw up was HQ and crew, there's more crew and rooms than your base can support even maxed out, making you have to swap them out to optimize your base. I find this an oversight since it goes against how the rest of the game plays, being that you just keep increasing and getting larger numbers. If HQ and crew was more in line with the rest of the game your base would have been able to just support all of em. I got this on a slight sale and the price felt right for what I got out of it, a decent little time killer you can have in the background and occasionally give attention to while you get other things done in another tab.

This was the hidden gem of the Steam Awards 2021 sale for me. Purchased this randomly and thought it looked terrible at first, but I couldn't stop playing it. Really simple but addictive gameplay.

Wonderful "turn your brain off and relax" type of game with a charming art style and flavor text, utterly ruined by save bugs that have twice now erased all of the upgrades on my HQ when the game stopped working and I restarted it. I would highly recommend this game if it were not for that problem.

Overall, pretty good. It's exactly what's on the box. Mindless, relaxing mining set to nice music. Not too complicated, nothing to lose. just satisfying crunching of blocks. Might as well be a mobile game, but there aren't any microtransactions. The only complaint I have is that you have more buildings and characters than you can assign, so at some point you need to do some managing and work out what to replace. Would have appreciated just being able to build everything at the same time.

I kept upgrading the upgrades with an upgraded upgrade, so it felt like I was winning. But did any of my upgrade choices make anything different about the simple gameplay of aiming a mouse pointer at some blocks? I bought the game hoping that there would be some surprises in the deep underground, but the game was just so repetitive with no surprises. The upgrade system is just layered on top of a simple mechanic to give an illusion of progression through the planets. Boo.

If you don't like destroying, collecting and leveling up crisp blocks, if you don't like exceptionally cool drum and bass sound that accompanies you, you don't love humor - then Galactic Mining Corp is not for you. If you're stressed out by the bustling atmosphere, overloaded explotion screens and mouse-only controls, don't do it. But if one or more of the points mentioned appeal to you, then you get a great addictive game here that ties you to the monitor for almost 40 hours to get all the achievements and to be honest - I enjoyed every minute! Clear recommendation for the game and the separate soundtrack which is almost better than the game itself.

The thing I typically hate about mobile games is their predatory behaviour. Always trying to get you to buy one of their in-game transactions. So, to get you on the trolley, they make their game play empty but super addictive. It gives you the vibe that what you're playing is worth the time and most importantly, the money because you need a few bucks to get to the next level - or to upgrade. This game is much like that without the predatory in-game transactions. The upgrades in the game come in thick and fast to keep you on the trolley but ultimately, the game play is very samey. You unlock rooms, obtain new crew mates, collect cores, collect money for upgrades, collect upgrade tokens for your drill, etc. You feel like you're always just around the corner from the next major upgrade. And for a time, it all feels worth it. It gets somewhat exciting when you get close to the core and you're life is depleting at a rate of knots and you're not sure whether you'll make it to the core and destroy it in time. But after awhile, you can take a pretty accurate guess on whether you're successful or not. And upgrades start to make me feel so strong that I can boost through most planets without too much of a hitch. It says over 100 unique locations which is not entirely true. I mean, the planets all look different from the outside/map - sure. But once you're in drilling, it boils down to the same 5 types of planet: ice, fire, acid, radioactive and dark with a small combination of enemies and the blocks of the mine change ever so slightly. The one issue I had was that once I got to a point where my drill was far stronger than the environment the planets I was drilling. So I wasted a lot of time just drilling each block for money (to unlock more of the map) and experience (to unlock upgrades to the drill) when there could have a simple button that said, "Auto finish this area. Click here to convert the rest of the map into money/experience for me." And it would have saved easily 10 minutes of 0 threats and quite frankly, boring gameplay for every area. In most games, I feel like if I am working towards something and the game is not too difficult or grindy, then you have me every step of the way. But after spending the last few days (and all day today) playing this game, I am putting it down. It was 21 hours in total, with at least 8 of those being very uneventful. And the only reason I kept going was to continue the upgrades in a very mobile game-like manner; addiction rather than varied, fulfilling game play. I know this has been a mostly negative review. But for a time, I also enjoyed this game when I was working everything out and game play felt fresh. Upgrades in the beginning were satisfying! I didn't know it at the time but I now see in retrospect that I was going to lose interest in the game before I finish it because of the grind. But considering I paid $6 for it on sale, it's not a bad game and I would recommend it at that price. I definitely got my moneys worth at that price. But at full price? Not really.

I want to give this game a thumbs up but just cannot. It has too many frustrating elements like requiring you to constantly "check-in" as you are collecting things to get the next threshold which just resulted in wasted time. Nothing interesting is really added past the first galaxy (of which there are 3 total). It's also frustrating that you cannot turn off some of the power-up crates as some of them (such as the Phat drop power-up crate) became meaningless. Overall, this is a game you have to play with idle game progression. I don't hate it, but it became boring and bland towards the end and I don't think it's worth the price tag or what I paid for it which I think was 50% off.

There isn't anything to remember about or love in this game.

I can't recommend this as I feel that my time and money was wasted on this. If you want a good mining game, try the Steamworld Dig Games. The game is very shallow as there isn't any depth to any of it, the planets, the world, the mechanics. Characters, Items, Rocks/Blocks, all just generic objects painted in different colors/stickers. The gameplay stays basically the same the longer you play it. The large variety of items, characters, and planets add nothing substantial to it. There are bits of supposed lore and world scattered around but nothing connected to eachother.

One of the most blandest games I've ever known

The game needed a stronger unique vision. This game probably needed a writer to write a short weird space story with a few likable characters. An animator or the artist to have expressive characters to get a tiny bit of depth (rather than this giant cast of characters) and graphics as the game feels static and unmoving, completely void of actual vibrant life.
