About the Game

With the struggle between order and chaos quelled by saviours from beyond, the realm was destined to fade from existence. Instead, an arcane power has breathed new life into it—bestowing these decaying remains with purpose once more. The fight has begun anew, and the world is your arena.

Over twenty-four of FINAL FANTASY's most recognisable faces have assembled to take part in interdimensional fisticuffs. Face off against other teams in action-packed, three-on-three melees that require sense as well as strength to win. Each combatant can be one of four types: vanguard, assassin, marksman, or specialist; play off your allies' fighting styles, master the bravery system, and emerge triumphant from the clash of steel and sorcery!

In addition to standard battles, there will be skirmishes that employ special rulesets, along with cutscenes that tell the story of this reborn world, the gods that rule it, and the warriors who fight for it.

Buy this if: - You are a fan of Final Fantasy (the series). - You have played and enjoyed the days where everything wasn't Online yet (solo gaming). - You don't have a working PSP anymore and want to play the Dissidia again. - You have money to spend on countless DLCs to full enjoy the game. - You are not particularly enjoying Online competitive games. - If you enjoy playing online competitive games, you are willing to put the work to find a community. - If you are not willing to find a community, you are willing to wait for a LONG time to join an online game. - You have PC that has more than enough specs to play this smoothly. Do not buy this if: - You are looking for a fun competitive online game (the game stopped developing this further in 2020). - You just have an "okay" gaming PC (things can get laggy if you don't have the PC that can handle it). - You are a Competitive Online games player more than a Final Fantasy fan. - You want instant battles online (no waiting queue) - If you played Dissidia and Duodecim previously and wants to know the story only (just watch it on YT) Overall, I would still recommend it (after reading what I wrote above and you still want to buy it). I bought it in March 2023 and I have enjoyed it for what I paid for so far (paid it on sale for 65% off). I have been a fan ever since and I played the first Dissidia on my PSP solo. The AI game is fun and they keep you playing to get rewards. The PROs still outweigh the CONs so Recommend.

Do you like a caotic nonsensical 3v3 series of battles where you have the movement ability of Chris from RE1 and more or less the same number of attack abilities? Yeah, me neither. Let us run down the differences between the REAL Dissidia Final Fantasy and this crap of NT: Moves avaiability In the original Dissidia you had 3 on ground bravery attaks and 3 on ground hp attaks coupled with 3 in air bravery attaks and 3 in air hp attacks. In NT you get 2 bravery attacks, 1 hp attack and 2 buff or debuff abilities on cooldown. Character personalization In the original Dissidia you levelled up the character to have more movement abilities and attacks AND you had to use said abilities and attacks to master them, making them cost less capacity to be able to equip more of them. This opened up different builds depending on how tou wanted to move, act in battle and such. All playable characters were unlockables by playing the game and completing secret missions and such. Also 90% of the costumes were purchasable by grinding in the game or completing various tasks. In NT you level up caracters to have new attacks. 90% of costumes, personalizations and characters have to be bought separately with DLCs (at the moment there are over 600€ worth of DLCs .-.) The gameplay In Duodecim you played one-on-one epic battles with peculiar one-lines depending on what characters you choose. There was a single bar that filled up beating the opponent or gathering a core and you could choose to use that bar to either summon an ally that did a SINGLE attack or to activate the EX mode that changes the way every character works unlocking new abilities and passives. You could equip a summon in order to help you in battle strategically by lowering continuously te enemy's bravery, breaking it or other things BUT to summon them you had to do precise things (like break the enemie's bravery to summon or hit him with an hp attack to summon). In NT you're forced in a 3v3 match where you dont know who or what you're targeting (because you can target teammates in order to use a buff but you could just wast an attack) and most of the time the camera glitches in trees or gracefully goes behind you so you WILL have a hard time to understand where the thing you're targeting is (good luck if you use a big character like Golbez). Most of the tactic goes in the sink since you just end up casting whatever hoping to hit something. But you CANNOT kill the caracters...oh no...you have to kill 4 of them before they kill 4 of you. But there are only 3 per team...yes, you CAN revive yourself as does the other squad so the chaos is always mantained. Oh and to summon you just have to fill up a gauge and keep a button pressed for 5 to 15 seconds depending on how many teammates are summoning...at that point said summon will appear AS A SEVENTH character and start lazingly hitting enemies. And for some reason you can target summons but cannot damage them. I thing this about explains my complete disappointment. After almost 4 years I decided to buy the Deluxe edition for 15 euros (that gives you ALMOST every character except for Tifa, Ardyn, Gabranth and 2 other guys). The graphics are perfect and the naimations are spot on but the gameplay is AWFUL at best. Really...emulate the original one, they even managed to activate servers to play online with the PSP version on emulator. Don't do my mistake, don't buy this crap.

Okay first of all, the graphic is a nice upgrade from Dissidia Duodecim, but holy, why change the core gameplay? Whats the point of grinding gil when all the cosmetics unlock via real money which is sucks as hell. What happened to AP grinding? why the moveset is fixed? what happened to customizable movesets? THE LEAST U CAN DO IS UPGRADE THE VISUALS AND ADD MORE CHARACTERS. The battle system itself is not fun, 3v3 ? jGive us back 1v1 . And why remove the EX minigame? My verdict: NO, dont buy this game, this is not Dissidia, it has no soul in it. Go play the Dissidia PSP or the Dissidia Opera Omnia (recommended this bcs it has large roster, but beware this is gacha game) If u still insist to try this, buy it during sales.

Kinda feel like if I buy the deluxe edition I shouldn't be skimmed 4 characters and a chunk of DLC. Otherwise good game.

Despite being a worse Dissidia Final Fantasy game than the previous ones before it from the PSP, It still stands up to being a very beautiful game to this day and for the most part is completely worth playing if you have a couple of friends who are Final Fantasy fans. Would be great if Square Enix ported this game to the Xbox to give more people the opportunity to try this game out. Square Enix should also look to try doing Remasters of the first two PSP Dissidia Final Fantasy games in the style of how they made Crisis Core Final Fantasy Reunion and they should be released on Steam, Xbox, Switch (or Nintendo's next generation system after the Switch), and PlayStation since it's a shame that those two PSP games are still stuck on that device and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT relies on telling it's Story Narrative through the assumption that players have played the original two PSP Dissidia Final Fantasy games since Dissidia NT is a direct continuation from those two.

If you’re thinking about buying Dissidia NT for the story, think again: Unless you like grinding standard offline/online battles for tokens to unlock story cutscenes, you’re better off just watching the entire thing on YouTube First of, this review won’t cover the multiplayer components of Dissidia NT, as the multiplayer is basically dead. The average player count of this PC version sits at merely 18.5 players during the last thirty days – and even though a PS4 version of the game exists, there’s no crossplay function. Furthermore, considering that active development of Dissidia NT already ended in 2020, there’s almost no chance that things are ever going to change. If you want to engage in a fighting game experience with many other players, you’ll have to look for a different game. That only leaves the offline components of Dissidia NT to review then. If you’re playing the “Free Edition” of the game, you’ll have access to four characters (on weekly rotation), which you can use for tutorials, online matches (in theory, nowadays) and offline fights against the AI. Buying the “Standard Edition” of the game unlocks all 28 base game characters as well as the story mode of Dissidia NT. However, as you might’ve noticed, there’s also quite a lot of Dissidia NT DLC available on Steam. These range from cosmetics to entirely new characters. Deceivingly, some of these new characters aren’t even part of the season pass and need to be bought separately (e.g. Tifa or Zenos yae Galvus). So even if you buy the “Deluxe Edition” of Dissidia NT, which includes the base game & the season pass, you might still be missing out on some content. That’s not only annoying but also easy to miss at first, since the amount of DLC for this game is just way too high. Anyway, the offline modes. Both previous entries in the subseries, Dissidia and Dissidia 012, featured 1-on-1 fights between classic Final Fantasy heroes & villains, with lots of fanservice and a huge focus on story. Dissidia NT is a different beast altogether: Originally an arcade game in Japan, the 1-on-1 fights became 3-on-3 and the story became less of a focus – it was only added to the arcade version later on as DLC. Eventually, the arcade game (including the story DLC) was ported to PlayStation 4 and arrived on PC even later on. If you start up the game for the first time, you’re immediately greeted with the option to familiarize yourself with the gameplay of Dissidia NT through tutorials. And considering Dissidia NT doesn’t play like most fighting games, a tutorial is absolutely needed. It’s a real problem then that the tutorial is as barebones as it gets: A lot of text boxes, do each move once to move on, more text boxes. Now, dry tutorials are a common problem in the fighting game genre and part of the reason why they’re often perceived as hard to get into. But in this case, it’s particularly disappointing since Dissidia NT is not a game you can simply pick up and play. In fact, Dissidia NT is total chaos at first. 3-on-3 fights with overwhelming battle animations, summons and crystals appearing on the battlefield can lead to moments where you can barely make out what’s happening on screen through the abundance of special effects. Sure, powerful characters need powerful attacks, but there’s simply too much spectacle at times to allow for a clear overview of the battlefield. On top of that is the user interface, which is an absolute mess and a nightmare to understand at first: HP and bravery bars of all six characters, two summoning gauges, the remaining time, a minimap, your break bonus and skill gauge – it’s all on screen at the same time. All of this might become less of a problem the longer you play the game, but if you’re new to the game and not familiar with the subseries, it can be overwhelming experience – and a frustrating one, if you lose a battle and don’t really know why. It’s fun to see popular Final Fantasy heroes and villains clash, sure, especially if those clashes happen in popular places like Midgar or Rabanastre (or the Porta Decumana for my fellow XIV players) and are accompanied by some great music tracks & remixes. But since this is a game after all, the overall experience suffers if new players are overwhelmed and unable to emerge victorious from those clashes. But what if you just want to play Dissidia NT for the story and just hope to rush through the gameplay sections? I’ve got bad news for you: The story mode of Dissidia NT is not only locked behind purchasing the standard edition of the game – but also looked behind tokens called “Memoria”. Each battle and even cutscene of the story must be paid for with Memoria – which, in turn, is only obtained by raising your player level. Simply put: If you want to advance the story, you’ll have to raise your player level by grinding standard battles against players/the AI (the latter nowadays). This is – by far – one of the worst ways to stop a player from advancing through your story. Making them subject to a tedious grind for hours, just to unlock a few basic battles and cutscenes is really just about dragging out the playtime. There are methods to shorten the grind but you’re still looking at multiple hours of the same few matches against the AI overall. It doesn't help that the story – a continuation of the previous Dissidia games – is far from entertaining either. It’s always fun to see Final Fantasy characters interact with each other, but those interactions are cut pretty short here. In fact, movie versions of the entire story – including battles - on YouTube only last about one and a half hours. Considering the amount of mindless grinding you have to go through to unlock the whole thing, it might be better to just stick to those movie versions to begin with, if you just care about the story of Dissidia NT to begin with. Overall, Dissidia NT is game with a basically dead multiplayer, a tough newcomer experience and a forgettable story locked behind a tedious and useless grind. If you just care about Final Fantasy characters spectacularly clashing with each other, you might still give it a shot through the “Free Edition”. Alternatively, you could consider playing the older Dissidia games instead, which also offer actual story modes.
