Blood Code is a game I would not recommend to anyone. It's poorly written, repetitive, and just not enjoyable to play. The story of Blood Code is insipid and shallow. The main character, Leia, has no distinguishing characteristics or backstory that is ever revealed. The plot is unoriginal and simply revolves around trying to win the hearts of vampires, though they lack any remotely vampiric qualities. The translation into English is also laughably bad, making the dialogue sound robotic and unnatural. The gameplay is even worse. It's the same old simulation/stat building system that has been used in countless games for years. This type of gameplay gets tedious and repetitive quickly, and Blood Code is no exception. You have to constantly schedule out every single day of Leia's life for an entire year, and it gets old quickly. You also need to grind for an absurd amount of magic to get the good endings for your love interests. This aspect of the game is just boring and tedious. The character voice audio is also quite poor. The characters are introduced awkwardly, and the voice acting is amateurish. I had to turn the voices off to be able to continue playing. I understand that Blood Code is cheaper than most games like it, but it feels like the quality of the game has suffered greatly because of it. It's a game that I would not recommend to anyone, and it's a huge waste of money and time.

There are some errors with translations and grammar not quite sounding correct, however, that will be easily fixed as more updates come out. The game itself is beautiful art wise, and the soundtrack is relaxing and pleasing to listen to. (There are a few area where the music will jump in volume to be quite loud though, so please be carefull of that.) The backgrounds are stunning, and the badges and emotes are pretty cute as well, the cards are pretty dull in comparison to the rest of the unlockables, but they are still fairly adorable. (backgroud and lvl 1 badge examples are on my page, as my background and featured badge) The gameplay is slightly different to other sims I've played because of the schedule planning, but when it comes down to it, this is a stat raising game. Although it's still easy to enjoy since the stat requirements don't need obsessive grinding to pass the test at the end of each game month, and the stat test only raises by about 200 points each time, so as long as you have 2 or 3 study days a week you're good. You have to visit each place once or twice in order to unlock the jobs, and then you can start earning money for items. It reminds me of Nicole, due to some aspects of the story, but I don't think you can actual investigate in the same way you stat raise. You just have to let the mystery unfold along with the game's cutscenes. However cutscenes happen at least once a game week, so it's not like Dandelion where you have really long wait periods of nothing but stat grinding. And the stat skill are all counted as one stat for the end of game month checks, so the only stat that actually matters on it's own would be the one that corresponds to your chosen route. The characters are charming, and although there are cliche aspects, they are done in a way that makes it hard to hate any of them. The designs of the characters aren't super unique, but the changes in their faces and stance when you chose different dialogue options are amazing details that allow their personalities to shine through. The voice acting however is the one thing I wasn't too happy with. The voices are great fits for the characters, but the lines tend to be read emotionless. (Or maybe I just can't pick up emotion very well in chinese.) And, again an audio problem, the voice actors can be very hard to hear due to the music spiking in volume for certain tracks, so I found myself having to readjust my audio settings quite a few times. Overall, it is a very nice Ootome, and I would absolutely recommend it just for the art alone, but the entire game is just so well done that it makes it well worth the price. Although it's already very cheap compared to most of the Ootomes on steam at the moment. NOTE: I haven't finished any of the routes yet, but I'll be adding to this review as I go through. Based on the fact that I have over 4 hours so far in the game (and I think not even half way through my first route), I'm really happy with the length and quality of the stories. I say stories since a good half of the main story cutscenes so far have been centered more towards the guy I'm going for first, so I assume I can safely say that you won't have to go through the same exact main story and cutscenes each play through like quite a few of the Ootomes I've played.

Good game thats worth the price. The translation can come off as rather rough, its not incomprehensible but if you're bothered by minor grammar and spelling errors and a wooden way of writing, then you might want to look at other Visual Novels. The CGs are okay, but overall the art is very pretty, and the music is very soothing. The voice acting is decent, but all involved characters besides the protagonist are voice, which is impressive. The stat building isn't tedious, there are very little elements you have to keep track of and they're mostly explained to you by the beginning of the game. You can even call the boys you want and they'll flat out tell you what gifts they like, and after that the game has icons to remind you of their preference. There's a decent amount of room to explore the mechanics of the game, and what gets triggered by what so you get certain dialogue options, events, CGs and endings. The element of stat building and time management, however, tapers off around the second half of the game as it begins to focus on tying up the story and the outcome of your relationship, which actually makes it rather boring since a lot of your investment in this game will be making sure you're adequately investing in your needed stats, passing monthly benchmarks, scheduling dates and hording money so you can buy your boy presents. This game isn't for you if you're not into micro managing, though it is a good gateway game for those who want to learn the basics of strategizing around those games. Storywise, its passable, the magic and vampire backstory adds some mystery and style to what is essentially a high school romance game. It creates for itself some kind of lore, but generally you don't need to immerse yourself in any of it to follow each route. Oh, from the initial three boys I've played through, the story and its triggers remain the same. There's no alternate side of the story or layers, the different boys you pursue will offer different subplots and a slightly different outcome that puts the at the forefront of wrapping up the protagonist's conflict. Still, its decently replayable for the CGs and alternate endings.

    First impressions review. Pros:

Great looking art.
Cons:

The awkward translation into English is a huge downside for a visual novel. While mostly gramatically sound, the sentences aren't natural conversational English and read like they come from an auto-translator.
The character voice audio quality isn't uniform and the voice acting quality itself isn't very good (subjectively). It was distracting to the point where I had to turn the voices off to continue playing.
The manner the characters are introduced is very awkward.
The beginning of the game has little to no cohesive structure. It jumps from day to day in order to shallowly introduce new characters.
The protagonist is not introduced well and there is no exposition regarding her character.
I'll update this review as I continue in the game. I'm interested to get to the actual meat of the game, but honestly my first few hours don't inspire me to want to play much more. While cheaper than most games like this on Steam, it feels like the quality of the game has suffered a lot for it.

I really wanted to like this game. I've seen it in the otome section for months, and I was waiting a really long time for it to come out. There aren't enough otome games on steam and this one looked really promising and looked a lot better than a lot of the ones on here. I just didn't like it at all. Positives: -The art is amazing, I like the character designs. Negatives: -The story has so much potential to be engaging and interesting but it's just flat. I like its concept, but it just doesn't deliver. -I can't get attached to any of the characters at all. All the love interests have a flat personality that seems more robotic than human like. In an otome game I expect to get emotionally attached to the love interests in some way, and actually care about them. They're dull. None of them evoke any emotion out of me. All of the side characters also have a flat, dull personality that makes you unable to get attached to them. -It's really hard to emotionally connect or empathize with the main character. Her personality is really shallow. Just really uninteresting. -Just eh writing in general. It won't get you immersed in the game. I had to stop playing a lot because I just couldn't stay interested. Plus I'm kinda creeped out that an aged 25+ teacher is a dating option for a 14-15 year old girl. It's optional, but it's still there. But if you want a game that will get you emotionally attached to the characters and immersed in a story, this isn't it. Really disappointing.

The regret. Honestly, the art is pretty. I like the character concepts. The plot could be fantastic. I'll never know, though, because the translation is awful. There are times it feels like I've missed whole sections of the story because the characters are all of a sudden talking about something else. It's really really a terrible translation. I couldn't even make it through one full route. I'm rather sorry I paid for this game. I very much wanted to like this game. If they update and improve the translation, I would absolutely give it another chance. For now, I'll be uninstalling it to free up space on my laptop.

Personally, I feel like the negative reviews are unfair CONSIDERING the price of the VN/otome ... $10 when it's not on sale and it's $3 when it's on sale. You get more than you pay for- especially when Blood Code is on sale for $3. Pros: Beautiful artwork. Interesting plot. Voice dialogue. (I didn't expect this from a $3 game) Difficult (If you don't understand how the stats work, it'll take awhile to get used too) Skip feature (THANK GOD) Interaction with other bachelors regardless of what guy you're pursuing Characters are all lovely- but they all share the trait of being polite/nice. I rather take this than thirsty cringe overlords. Cons: It's the same plot regardless of what guy you decide to pursue Translation is a bit off but not enough to ruin the actual game. It's hilarious actually! It gets tedious to enter the schedule for the stats. (G R I N D. Luckily there's the skip feature.) So CONSIDERING how the game costs like $10 or $3 ..... This game is def worth buying. I've played better otomes but only because they were in the $30 range. For a $10/$3 game, you really get more than you pay for.

A mixture of interesting story and stat building. I had fun playing this game.

I got this game on sale and still playing it for all the endings and achievements, and I know this one might still better than some more expensive Otome games, but gonna give a not recommended. This is why: Pros: - Nice Art work and music - Lots of events with the boys through weeks - Has unique weekly stat training system Cons: - The events doesn't provide me the feel - it was like they tried to have lots of events, but none of them really have depth or make me like the boys. And some of the events feel meaningless to me - they don't link at all. - The training system became a bother - I don't even know what it affect the story and why do the main character need it, still I need to adjust it to very high if I want to get all the ending. I like to try it at first, then it make me feel so tired. Even though I have the DLC, it still no fun at all. After all I bought this Otome because I want the "feel". But I received some tiring training system and no feel at all. So it gonna be a "not recommended".
When I played the game for the first time, I feel really excited because I thought Locke is a bad vampire and the MC gonna change him/go through suffer to gain happines .... etc. Turned out everything is just a misunderstanding and only the MC's uncle is bad. No drama at all. And no feel. And I must say Locke's happy end is the one that made me changes from "recommended" to "not recommended". It's a big disappointment - you are dumb and use the spell too late, then you are going to die, and you beg him to turn you into a vampire - both of you are vampire and live long, so happy end. The normal end is you use the spell on time, so you live well and turn old, at that time you don't want to be a vampire anymore. Such rubbish story.
Btw, I don't think the translation of this game is bad.

Since I am a veteran in playing Otome games, let me give my two cents about this game. Story: The first few minutes pulled me in. Several interesting things happen on the first days. But it gets awful from there. They could have put a lot more effort into creating more drama and mystery, but you were left more with a scratching your head in a bad way wondering what's going on rather than a cognitively stimulated way. And then the end came. Then the end came and I felt like it dragged on forever. I sat literally wondering, "When is this going to be over, and are they going to actually do something". Characters: The characters in this story were terrible. The main character is SOO uninteresting, boring, and just plain dull! I can't figure out why the male characters are so interested in her! She has a few responses to everything, she rarely asks questions about her situation and the only thing she does to try to improve her situation is.. NOTHING. I felt like some characters were randomly thrown in and the connections they had to the MC were completely irrelevant or stupid. Almost all of them had no back story, especially the main heroine, the one you probably could have used a little bit of a back story on. You don't get much however. Their interaction with each other is unnatural and odd, and repetitive. The translation and the script was repeating over and over again. So, the characters in this series disappointed me greatly. Art: The art isn't that bad, it's colorful, and bright. Even though some of the CG's were completely random and hold little to no value to the story. Overall: I don't feel like I enjoyed much of this game at all. I can say if you want an otome game with a good mystery that leaves you wanting more, this isn't it. If you want a dull and boring game that has bright and pretty characters you can stare at that really don't mean anything, then this game is for you! My overall experience of this otome game is poor. I was hoping by some means they would thrill me somehow with the end, and really come out with some amazing plot twist or something.. but that didn't happen for me.
