  I've played several other games by TurnVex and wanted to give one of the early ones a try... I wasn't expecting quite the jumpscares! Some of them were self-inflicted, but this was a really fun game. Plus, it was cool to see the evolution of some of the mechanics from their newer games :) One day, I'll be smart enough to get a "good" ending on the first playthrough of their games 🙃

  I really wanted to enjoy this game. It built up a great, tense atmosphere and the story seemed interesting. The graphics were nice and I really liked the paranormal scanning aspects of it. Unfortunately I got stuck twice, and had to consider the game unplayable. First, in a tunnel, I went down it a second time while checking for changes. The character model kept clipping through the tunnel, then when I tried to leave, it was stuck in the "up" position and couldn't come back out. I restarted, and got further in the game, then while in a basement, I crouched to get past a beam, and the character locked there. As before, nothing could unlock it and I had no choice but to exit the game. With the game lacking any kind of save function, these bugs meant having to restart the game from the beginning and hoping not to get stuck yet again. Sadly, I filed the game under the unplayable category and gave up finishing it, because if I'd played it a third time, got even closer to the end, and had the same issue, I would have gotten seriously ragey. Much less for a game with 4 endings, each requiring a complete replay. Alas, I doubt the bugs will be fixed since it's been out so long and I presume the dev has moved on to other projects, but because of them, I really can't recommend it.

  Edit: ugh. I hate it when a game gives such a bad first impression at start that I immediately wanted to (and did) give it a thumbs down. After playing/surviving the game once, and also concidering the price and that it was made by one guy... yeah, allright. It was spooky, a bit cheesy and also still a bit fun. Got one of the endings and selecting another one was an easy option. Not sure how to get four endings in total though, so there is yet some puzzle to be solved. Changing the review to posive. But keep in mind it has some issues. Don't let the battery run out and be aware you HAVE to sit through in one session. Expect playtime for first run to be around an hour, not 30..45 minutes as mentioned on the store page. Original review: A creepy atmosphere, and for a single developer's first game, it's *technically* not bad. The execution however, is not what I hoped for. On the first puzzle, there's already a false or at least misleading hint. So you might think you are doing something wrong, while instead the hint itself is partially incorrect. There's also an extremely fast draining battery for your camera, which is also your light source. And if that one goes out, a lot of areas become pitch black, like literally black, so you can't see anything. No save option either, so if you don't have time to finish it, or you get in the situation as described above, you have to alt-F4 the game and start over again from scratch next time.

  A Girls Fabric Face (Neutral Review) Before purchasing this game, ensure you read the description and acknowledge the following; This game is short, A single playthrough stands at about 35-40 minutes. So while we have established this game is short, we have yet to establish if it is worth the pocket money your mom gave you. The gameplay itself isn't bad, with easy controls, decent sound effects and a few good scares it held my interest for the entire playthrough. The storyline albeit confusing at times genuinely seems to have been written with passion and creativity. However, there is one thing I believe lets this game down quite a bit. I felt too safe, I never felt like I was going to get caught or killed, it felt a little more like a walking sim with a five nights at freddy's feel to the sleeping portions of the game. For a cheap indie title? Honestly, it was worth the money, it held my interest, and that's better than the majority of indie titles out there. I hope to see a few key updates to the game and maybe I'll give it a few replays to collect those achievements. 6/10 TLDR: Improvements can and should be made, but for the price it was an enjoyable experience. _______________________________ Features: Multiplayer - No VR - Not currently

  Loved every second. Haven't gotten all four endings yet, but I definitely will. I recommend trying Mind's Eyes first, as that is free and lets you get a feel for what this game is like-- but you should know that this game is a step up from Mind's Eyes in absolutely every way. Also, press "I" to use your inventory. That took me a bit to figure out, and it's important. UPDATE: a patch added it to the controls, so that shows up now. Problem solved.

  Overall this is a solid first person horror game. It won't last you very long though, maybe an hour at best. Also, some controls aren't shown to you (presumably this will be fixed soon) - i - inventory e - use (notes/doors) It's nothing incredibly new or revolutionary, the puzzles are basic and easy, but I found the story intriguing, a lot of the scares worked well and ultimately I left the experience very satisfied. The more you explore and the more you find, the more you'll understand. Personally, I preferred this over Mind's Eyes (Stanislaw Truchowski's previous work).   A Girl's Fabric Face: 8/10 Great little game! There are at least 2 different endings here, though I suspect there may be more than that. I've only gotten one so far, but I genuinely enjoyed it. The jumpscares are there, but few and far between. The game is much more concerned with creating a dreadful atmosphere, and I appreciate that in a horror game. It's clear the developer spent a lot of time making this game look as good as it does! The only aspect that I dislike is the lack of a save system. It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to implement one, especially at the "rest points". However, I think the lack of saving was a conscious choice by the developer who wants players to get the most out of the game by playing it all through in one sitting. That said, it took me about 30 minutes for my first playthrough, for anyone wondering what they are getting into! For a few bucks, this game is definitely worth the time, all said.

  Pros: Cheap, good atmosphere with little reliance on cheap jumpscares (Really, it builds up atmosphere like a horror game should) Cons: Voice acting, too short for multiple endings to really feel important. I would still recommend this game, especially if its on sale.
