Defense Grid: The Awakening خصوصیات

Defense Grid: The Awakening is a unique spin on tower defense gameplay that will appeal to players of all skill levels. A horde of enemies is invading, and it's up to the player to stop them by strategically building fortification towers around their base. Beautiful environments, spectacular effects, and a dynamic, engaging soundtrack bring the world to life. The controls are intuitive and the gameplay is deep — the special attacks and properties of each tower work together to provide many ways to succeed.

  • High Replayability There are approximately 8 hours of gameplay in the main storyline, and many hours of play in challenge modes that give players unique starting conditions and objectives. Each game level is very replayable, and can be solved in many different ways, with increasing rewards for improved efficiency.

  • Wide Variety of Enemies Over the course of the game, players battle 15 different enemy types that become increasingly stronger, and employ a variety of strategies in an attempt to bypass the player's defenses. As the levels progress, the enemies become tougher and more difficult to defeat.

  • 20 Unique Levels Defense Grid: The Awakening has 20 unique environments, each with a different placement of roads, tower build locations, and open areas to plan a strategy around.

  • Numerous Tower Options and Upgrades There are 10 different tower types with 3 levels of capability each. Each tower has unique trade offs that affect ideal placement, such as line-of-sight attack or ballistic trajectory fire. Some towers improve other nearby towers, and some are ideal at specific locations, such as a rear guard tower that unleashes a devastating attack.

  • Steam Achievements Successfully completing each level provides a bronze achievement award. Additional goals provide silver and gold awards for a particular level. A novice player may be able to survive the onslaught, but only an experienced player will be able to get all of the gold achievements.

Defense Grid: Resurgence Map Pack

New Maps, New Strategies, New Experiences, and New Achievements From the Creators of Defense Grid

Defense Grid: Resurgence is the first premium expansion for Defense Grid: The Awakening and is made up of 8 new highly polished and balanced maps from the original creators. Each week in June over four consecutive weeks a new pair of maps will be released providing new environments and strategic experiences and requiring new ways of thinking to beat back the aliens and protect your cores. Each map pack contains 2 maps each with a campaign mode and 4 additional modes associated with the design of that level. New Steam achievements and high-score leaderboards are associated with each map pack.

Defense Grid: Resurgence Map Pack 1

Service Interruption and Height of Confusion

  • Two new challenging Defense Grid environments are the first two released in the Resurgence DLC. An obstructed road to the core housing gives the aliens a significant advantage in Service Interruption. Choose your towers wisely! Height of Confusion has a wide open surface, making for endless possibilities! Build anywhere you want in your defense of the power cores!

Defense Grid: Resurgence Map Pack 2

Risk Exposure and Roundabout

  • Don’t miss out on the next two maps in the Resurgence series. Risk Exposure will allow you to discover your ability to defend two independent power core housings! Limited build spaces will test your skills as you divide your resources to discover optimal tower placement. On Roundabout, you will be faced with numerous possibilities for pathing and a variety of elevation changes. This one will have you going in circles to contain the alien menace!

Defense Grid: Resurgence Map Pack 3

Urban Planning and Tactical Diversion

  • It’s the third of four great map packs in the Resurgence series. Urban Planning is a dense environment with restrictive build spaces, forcing difficult decisions against continuously attacking hordes. In Tactical Diversion, survey the small, snow covered platform and consider numerous possibilities. But be prepared for the aerial assault!

Defense Grid: Resurgence Map Pack 4

Kill Zone and Overflow

  • The final installment of the Resurgence series includes two more environments sure to challenge your tactical planning. In Kill Zone, will you construct your defenses near the spiral road in, the spiral road out, or the open platform in the middle? Perhaps all three! But you’ll need to be on your toes to deter the invaders. Overflow has numerous connected platforms that will provide countless options to turn back the enemies. Will you be able to keep the cores safe?

As of this writing, this game is almost 7 years old. For perspective, it came out only a year after The Orange Box did. When it was first released, it was undeniably the best tower defense game in the world -- but that's not surprising, because its only competition was Desktop Tower Defense and a handful of other shoddy flash games that were starting to ride the trend. A lot of time has passed since then, and hundreds of weird and interesting tower defense games have been released. So, is Defense Grid still the best? ...Honestly, I have no clue. I haven't played as many tower defense games over the years as I would have liked, and I blame it all on the quality and longevity of this one. The people who made Defense Grid understand where tower defense came from. Everything about this game is built to look, feel, and sound like retro StarCraft, from the isometric view, to the color choices, to the tower types and damage types. Gun towers are basically bunkers of marines, inferno towers are bunkers of firebats, cannon towers are bunkers of ghosts, and so on. They’ve even borrowed some classic towers from other games, like the tesla coils from the Red Alert series. Even today, it still hits me with that old 2002-era nostalgia of searching for tower defense maps on Battle.net and that pumped feeling of starting the map with a full lobby of people (because, of course, you needed a full lobby to even have a chance!) The biggest reason why Defense Grid is so great is because of its scoring system, which rewards even the tiniest improvements in performance with exponentially more money and score. It appeals greatly to the gamer's OCD, since the better you play the beginning of a mission, the more freedom you have to build deadly mazes for the remainder of the mission, the easier victory becomes, and the more often you can see your score skyrocket into the hundreds of millions. Fast-forward and checkpoint-rewinding controls make it simple to re-do every wave until it is perfect. It also creates an ultra-hardcore metagame with a massive curve of leaderboard scores, if you’re into that kind of competition. You’ll need to learn some really annoying advanced techniques if you want to break into the top 100 on any mission, or you could choose to compete in maps and game modes where the techniques don’t apply. Or you could simply choose to compete with yourself and your friends, or just aim for the pre-set gold medals. It’s really up to you. I've got over 130 hours logged into this, and I'm finally coming down the home stretch of getting all the achievements. God, this game has a lot of content, thanks to over 4 years of continued support and expansion sets. The expansion sets are quite solid, too; at one point I thought I had found a strategy which works on any mission, but then the DLC campaigns came and changed all the rules, and made me rethink everything. Is Defense Grid still the best? Probably not, and I will have a lot of tower defense games to explore once I’m done with this one. But one thing is for certain: this game is the sole reason why future tower defense games had to start trying new things, because it got the basics about as perfect as they can possibly get… at least for those of us who still occasionally see hordes of zerglings filing through mazes of bunkers in our waking dreams.

Allow me my conceit. DG is the best video game I have ever played, and many of you reading this could my grandkids friends. I usually avoid pronouncements. I avoid posting comments even more, but DG is so special, so rare, I must share with you why you should buy it. Check how many hours I have invested in this love affair. I still play every week. I invite you to check older posts from pre-2010 to see how this game enveloped not just me but a whole community being introduced to tower defense for the first time, not to mention veterans of the genre. DG is near flawless in its implementation. The music and voice-overs are still quite listenable after eleven years. Hidden Path has seen to it the leaderboards are still maintained, a small miracle since there is nothing in it for them to perform this favor after so many years. The graphics have stood the test of time and to this day I still enjoy an adult beverage or two after work just relaxing, picking a level and usually going with the super grinder and seeing if I can beat my best score (this should be your goal as beating the leaderboard is now nearly impossible). Sadly, after so many years, I have not made any headway on any levels for a long, long time. The game is so cerebral and satisfying that I don't care. I wish to speak to the game theory enthusiasts and folks who want a different look under the hood of how a masterpiece like this might be created (at least in my humble mind). After 1000's of games played, a few immutable things about game design occurred to me. To balance a game, any game, over many levels, or perhaps over a certain landscape, or any extended time frame and not have one element slowly dominate and ruin game play is near impossible. Think of literally any game you've played. How did you win? By finding the best combination of moves, or the best weapon with the best upgrades, or the best character, this list goes on and on. Perhaps you found a ‘hiding spot’ where the enemy could not shoot at you or find you. From that point that is how you played - player W with behavior X with weapon Y upgraded to combination Z. Sort of takes away from replay value, no? Well, what if there was no perfect combination, but many near perfect combinations, each with their strengths and weaknesses? What if a large percentage of permutations of any parameters pretty much gave you about the same odds, but after some tweaking, you could find some that were just a bit better than others? Watch ‘A Beautiful Mind’ movie or just search “Nash Equilibrium”. DG is a Nash Equilibrium game. Just try to win with a one-dimensional approach such as only guns (cheap and good), or lasers (good for heat sensitive aliens but near worthless on shielded or strong aliens), or cannons (good all-around but fire too slowly). You’ll be sorely disappointed. You can get somewhat close to the high score if you strategise, but that perfect game is always one tweak away! Easy to understand, but never truly perfected. And that is what makes this game great. A relentless unquenchable pursuit of the perfect game. Ask any golfer or MLB pitcher; they’ll tell you about it. Finally, a word to the veterans. You won’t be able to beat the highest scores. Two reasons for that. First, there was a change around 2010 about the juggling phenomenon (look it up) and Hidden Path’s struggle to bring fairness the high score leaderboards. There really was no perfect solution, but the choice they made I think was equitable. Second, although there were only anecdotal observations, it appears that the interest algorithm was indeed affected by the CPU speed on your PC. It actually looked like older CPU’s awarded better interest scores. If you think you are ‘the one’ and you want to beat ‘Takista’, the almost undisputed DG player of all time, get yourself a 2008 rig with maybe a q6600 and have at it. I’ll be watching you with interest. Buy this game. When was the last time you played something for 10 years and it cost you 10 bucks? And to Hidden Path, sorry it took so long to give a proper endorsement. Next time, leave me a voicemail.

If this game isn't THE best tower defense game of all time, it has to be a very close second. The more you get into the game, the better it gets. I've been playing for years and it's still just as fun. I especially love the Grinder Mode, where the enemies just keep coming for 100 rounds (a couple of hours). I would recommend all the expansions as well, as they each add a different twist to an already great game.

The one of the first TD games on Steam. It means it has a lot of fans, inspired other developers to making games and....it's old! By old i mean outdated graphics, sometimes monotonous gameplay, inhospitable UI and other stuff. Let's speak about gameplay. You need to defend the core in each mission. Core has 20 energy balls. When enemy comes to the core he takes 1 ball and tries to take it to the exit. If he dies, the energy ball will move back to the core slowly. If new enemy reaches the ball, it will take it. This is pretty interesting mechanic. I am wondering why i haven't met it in other TD games. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1171623360 The story is nothing special. "Something" is commenting your actions and explaining what is happening. All you need to know that you need to protect the core in each mission against of aliens. There are l lot of aliens in the a lot of missions. So be aware. You have 10 towers to achieve your goal. Actually, there are only 3 at start, new ones will be unlocked later. Each tower has 3 levels. I found it very difficult to understand in the battle to understand in the battle which towers are good at the current level, because there are no exact numbers... just health bars. Because of you can't build the perfect defense. You can build only the best maze. I liked the variety of levels. There were classic levels, maze levels. There were levels with 2 height levels http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1171623281 Pros - A lot of levels. Some of them has really interesting design - Each mission has a lot of mods. Story, Story challenge, 10 towers only and etc. - Each mode of each level contains a special leaderboard. - An interesting concept of lives. Enemies come from an exit to the core. Than they take Energy ball and go back to the exit. If the enemy dies, a ball flies back with slow speed, but if an new enemy reaches an energy ball it will take it. Neutral - All missions are available at start. it's pretty strange. - There is a plot and voice acting which tells you about it. But I found what this voice tells nothing about the story. It just tells intro phrases at the start of the level and warn you about low core energy level - Game was originalyl made for consoles. As a PC use i found it pretty uncomfortable. Cons - Low variety of towers. Only 10. Each has 3 upgrades which only improve parametres. No extra abilities, no tech tree and etc. - There is no upgrade system between levels. Your power/tower power is same as at the level one and the last level. - There are no exact numbers for health, attack damage, range and etc. There are bars. It's not enough for a TD game. - It's unclear, which tower deals extra damage to which. Also, when there are a lot of enemies. It's unclear at all, you can't distinguish anything. It's just a big battle, where something happen. - The sound effect of incoming message equals sound of Steam message in chat. It drove me crazy. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1171623404
Resume
I think DG was an awesome TD game in 2008 year. But in 2017 it's pretty outdated. The graphics, UI, story campaign in DG is worse then other TD game with Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam. Anyway, it contains some good ideas, interesting levels and more than three hundred of gameplay time. So you are aware of flaws now and if you are OK with it, I can recommend this game for you with 70+% discount.

The best of tower defense. A curious narrative driven by challenge and addictive gameplay with lovely graphics and well designed maps. Tactical thinking and effective tower placement are a must. It's not a port of a phone game, it's not a money grab or a micro-transaction store. It's just a great game.

For people trying to decide on the current Humble Weekly Sale: "Defense Grid Gold" contains the base game, Borderlands DLC, and the 4 Resurgence map packs. It does NOT include Containment or You Monster, though maybe they'll add those in later. Anyway, it's a very good tower defense game. Especially if you like raspberries.

This to me is THE tower defense game, that i compare every other TD to. Now, if that wasn't enough to make you buy this game, here's a bit more in depth analysis: The real challenge in this game comes from the level design. The large open areas don't give you even grids like 10x10 to build your mazes, instead, they give odds like 8x7 etc. So most of the times i found myself thinking that:"Damn, if i put them this way, i could direct them to that area, but then the damage suffers pretty greatly..". Most other TD games just give your enemies a pre-determined path, that you put towers alongside of it, and usually one tactic works in every level. Most TD games i've played give you usually a path of two that the enemies go, in this game, you can create a proper mazes on your own, on most levels. That increases the re-playability a lot, and often i find myself trying some level again just to test out a different strategy. The towers are pretty basic ones, all with 3 levels. There's the gun tower, flamethrower which acts like "poison", heavy hitting cannon, laser, slower, air, concussion that does huge damage to land groups, and command tower that increases the money gained from kills/shows stealthed units better. So nothing too deep in that department. But nothing more is even needed. In my opinion this game wuold be too much of a hassle with deeper tower system. Since the levels require thinking. The levels itself, there are a good amount of them, and dlc's add a lot more. Every level also has different modes like 99 waves, lesser cores (that enemies steal), core's that stay where they're dropped by an enemy that's killed (these are challenging), restrictions that you must complete the level using only lvl1 towers, and many more different challenges. if you're a fan of TD games, this is one of the must-play game of that genre. Really. I haven't encountered a single bug ever on these 134 hours that i've played this, runs perfectly on win 10.

If you're into tower defense games this is definitely one of them to get. Almost everything is awesome: the idea, the level design, the GFX, the variety of different challenges. Even it's now 6 years old it's still bests 99% of the tower defense games available. And if you're saying "but the other games are free" ... well friend, everything has a price and this baby here is worth every cent. And if you're still not convinced: look at the hours people spent playing the game. Noone plays games for 50+ hours if they're not worth playing.
