About the Game

A dark fantasy RPG with high replayability, and an emphasis on creativity instead of combat. Explore a vast open world where danger lurks around every corner, and a single misstep can make everything go wrong... But inversely, one well-placed stroke could make you a fortune...

Claire's Quest: GOLD features exclusive content that is unique to this version of the game!

Claire is a refugee fleeing the horrors of war, having lost everything and everyone she's ever known and loved.

Far from being the stereotypical "hero who wants to save the world", Claire is just another desperate civilian; she's no mighty warrior, nor powerful mage. She has no special gifts, save for a comely appearance, and in a world infested with criminals, monsters, and other sinister threats, that often bodes more ill than good. Cast out into an unforgiving new world, Claire is forced to rely purely on her wits and wiles in order to survive.

Will Claire be able to forge a new life for herself, relatively unscathed from the horrors that stalk her? Or will she find herself meekly succumbing to the will of the rich and mighty, becoming little more than a toy for those with evil intent? You decide in this sprawling 18+ sandbox RPG!

There are four pillars to gameplay which will shape and redefine each playthrough you experience:

  • DEFIANCE - Muster your courage, and present a steely façade that causes your would-be oppressors to doubt themselves...

  • INTRIGUE - Make use of stealth and espionage to cheat your way to the top, for a world of lies deserves no honesty.

  • SEDUCTION - Sweet talk the opposition, and use sultry words and batted eyelashes to disarm even the most hateful of foes.

  • DEPRAVITY - Give in and indulge in dark debauchery that promises great satisfaction... but risks consuming you completely.
DON'T BUY THIS GAME IN STEAM IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE FULL VERSION!
Actually the game is good, just don't buy in steam. This game is the perfect mix of great writing, tantalizing visuals and scenes, and erotic material. The interesting part of the game – making narrative decisions, developing and deploying Claire's stats in the narrative events, getting into sexy situations. Pluses: 1. Good art, H-scenes; 2. Good music; 3. Not a bad plot and well written within a dark fantasy theme; 4. Rather than a combat system, the gameplay is built around social-stats that progress based on your actions and dialogue choices. Many events will play out differently based Depending on Claire's character. Your choices carry weight in the story or sidequests and determine what stats get raised or lowered. 5. Stability of the game. Absence of bugs and departures. 6. There is quite enough content (although this item is also in the cons), 25/30+ hours of leisurely play. The world has many areas and is big for a game of this type. 7. The bulk of the characters are well written. And do feel like they have backgrounds and lives of their own. Disadvantages: 1. No skip text option. No quick save / load functionality readily available. 2. It's not anywhere close to being finished. The game has been in development for quite a long time. Updates are very rare, and bring very little content. Much some quest lines and features in early access and with still in production. Some skills or perks are locked in the stat trees since the game is unfinished. 3. CUT CONTENT. Even things that Steam would have no problem with, cut out. I assume this is done for profit, there are 3 versions of the game: Patreon - Complete Edition and Black Edition, and Steam Gold Edition - version "handicapped" A whole bunch of cut content, and not a word from the developers about it. If I had known about it earlier, I wouldn't have bought the game from Steam. Promised to upgrade to a full game patch after release, but the game has been in development for a long time and there is no hint of a near release, and do not know whether we will wait for it. And as a result, the game is worth watching despite the disgusting attitude of the developers. But you need the Patreon version of the game for a full immersion, not Steam.

Pros: -strong story elements -good music throughout -simple controls easily mastered with lots of depth for game play -Lots of bells and whistles and probably more to come that really make this great -an edgy to fun tone reminiscent of such dark fantasy as game of thrones. -though in early access tons and tons of content. -i encountered no bugs during my game play even though in early access. -multi choice/multi path game where at least some of my choices seem to matter -gender locked female protagonist -For the most part this game is combat grinding free, at least on my play through. Cons: -in early access with some quest lines and features still in production. -gender locked protagonist with minimum of customarily -Its perhaps a touch week on rpg combat. I think this was done as a work around to avoid grinding game play, but it might have been nice to have at least a little control in some combats. Yes, that it is a gender locked female protagonist is both a pro and a con. Depends on the player. For me, this works and is a pro, and as my review will go onto explore, I feel this game treats its female protagonist with a lot more care and creativity than some of its competitors, despite the graphic images perhaps rolling around at the top of the games description above. In essence, I did not feel that the protaganist was one dimensional and though we can not customize the protagonists physical features game play lets us customize the protaganist mentally and skill wise up to a point. This is an adult, dark fantasy rpg with a female protagonist. As such, in my humble opinion, I truly feel this is one of the best that has come out recently. The tone is dark, but not so dark as to be depressing and unplayable. While there is some of the common misogynistic tendencies inherent to the genre, I feel the creators handled this aspect far better with a much more fine brush stroke than their competitors such as Kagura game. Overall it comes off as edgy to mirthful at times with a cast of characters that at least I legitimately cared about. I strongly feel the best adult games would be good games without the adult elements. This is true here. If you want adult elements, they are certainly there-included without a patch thank Claire-yet if you really tried you likely could avoid most of these. This game also includes a lot of the aspects that I feel ought to be in every dark fantasy game but often are forgotten or only given lip service, such as torture, drinking, drugs, legacy. As of my playing the game is in early access with what I would estimate as about a half done state that is very strong. I encountered no bugs and even after half a day of play I still have tons of content to clear. There were a few quests and aspects that are incomplete but in general that doesn't seem to destroy play ability-you just leave that quest plot line and go focus on something else. Its already a great game. I strongly feel that this may well become even greater upon completion with some bells and whistles and depth that is hinted at but still being sought. In conclusion, if you don't mind adult elements and are looking for a good dark fantasy game, I recommend this game.

I want to be able to recommend this game, but the more I think on it the more I recall things that bug me. I guess I shall start with the positives though. The art is pretty good (Although not always), the writing for the scenes is decent, and I actually sort of enjoy the 4 stats in the game, and there various effects. The game play is mostly narrative driven; It has you making choices which affect the story and depending on your choice; you get certain stat boost. The 4 stats being Intrigue, Seduction, Depravity, and my personal favorite: Defiance. Each stat provides certain buffs and perks that make it easier to do certain actions in the game, so normal stuff.... what I didn't expect though was for these stats to also change the outcome of certain scenes. There was one moment where I thought things were going to go south for our protagonist, only to have my expectations flipped when they started giving out a beating to their aggressors. Turns out; that was due to the amount of defiance I had being high. Defiance isn't the only stat that changes it either; Things like depravity and seduction also have an effect on scenes. Those changes really helped spice up the game and helped sort of show the protagonist grow over time. It was quite interesting, and I hope they continue to do more stuff like that.... Now that I have specified the positives: Let me discuss why I couldn't in good faith recommend this game. One of the more basic reasons I can't recommend this game is due to the shear fact that it isn't finished. There are very few quest in this game that actually have a proper conclusion, and updates for this game seem very thin.... Something that I find rather frustrating for 2 reasons. Reason 1) the updates provide very little content when they actually come out. Often providing maybe an hour or 2 tops to complete. Reason 2) This game is making a surprising amount of money for a game of its type. Now mind you; I can't say how hard or expensive it is to make a game, as I myself have never made or dabbled in game creation.... that being said; this game was put on steam, and makes about $10,000 a month on patreon as of the time of this review. Now I don't believe that is a whole lot in the grand scheme of making a game, especially when you start to divide it among a group of individuals, but it seems.... weirdly high for an rpg maker title that seems to get so little updates. While on the subject of updates: The most recent ones direction baffles me. With so many quest lines unfinished they decided the best thing to do was add an additional beginning. A very odd direction since there are a lot of big side quest they did tiny updates to, but haven't completed yet that seem like they could really add some interesting side things to do. The little and few updates is one thing, but I think I also have a lot more gripes with this game that I would have to categorize as annoyances. From things like the inability to skip scenes mid way through, to the in game cost of certain things, and the lack of scene changes being in the gallery, these are things I found annoying and frustrating to deal with that really started to grow increasingly frustrating with time. Now the game does have a cheat system which allows you to spawn in more money, and change stats so you can see the difference in certain scenes, but I think the fact that one has to cheat to avoid a tedious grind of watching the same scenes over and over again to build up money is dumb, and a lazy way of avoiding the problem instead of fixing it. The biggest area I can point a finger to with these issues is with my attempts to purchase the Ranch. The thing cost about 10,000 gold, which might sound fine, until you realize the most money one can make from a repeatable scene not far from the ranch is 175 gold> Doing the math, that means you have to do this about 58 times. Combine that with the inability to skip the scene, and you have to rest every 2 or 3 time you do this and this goes from annoying to out right infuriating. So as much as I want to join the band wagon of positive reviews for this game and recommend it; I can't with it in its current state. Hopefully the next set of updates bring a solid amount of fixes and complete some of the quest lines, but until then I would say at the very least wait for a hard sale on this game before buying it.

PROS *This game has very detailed and professional art drawings(not referring to only adult content but for the game as a whole) *The story is solid and well written within a dark fantasy theme. *Your choices carry weight in the story or sidequests and determine what stats get raised or lowered for the MC. *The game doesn't resolve around fighting, winning and losing battles. Instead, it checks your stats and determine what happens to the MC depending if you meet the requirements or not... also if you get a game over screen or not at some points. *The world has many areas and is big for a game of this type. *The questlines for all the different groups are interesting and the rewards for completing them are worth it. *The adult content is varied and doesn't get repetitive. CONS *The game is in early access and is unfinished. *All the questlines stops at some point. Even the MSQ is unfinished and stops. *Some areas or zones are inaccessible due to the game being unfinished. *Some skills or perks are locked in the stat trees since the game is unfinished. *It might shock and gross out some first timers who are new to this kind of adult content or hentai all together. OVERALL I give this game a 7/10 after playing it through and seing most of the content. Simply because it is unfinished and should be completed as a full game! An unfinished, unpolished rough gem like this deserves to be completed. I bought it at a discount... but IMHO, it is worth every penny and kept me hooked through all the questlines because the writing is just that good. I suggest to buy it at a discount if you'd like to give it a try. We can only hope that the developper/author will further polish and finish it in the near future.

A slightly above average RPGMaker Prostitution Sim with a fair degree of polish, but bland JRPG fantasy setting and generic gameplay. I would say the execution is good, but I quickly ran into a lock-up bug that forced a reload; and the controls aren't particularly well thought out. It's somewhat comparable to Third Crisis in a lot of respects, and also shares a lot of the same shortcomings.
The RPG gameplay's slow, dull, and cumbersome
Lots of running forward and backwards doing uninspired unengaging fetch-and-carry quests. The levels are nicely detailed, with a good use of the assets, but it's not really in the service of interesting gameplay events or mechanics. The interesting part of the game – making narrative decisions, developing and deploying Claire's stats in the narrative events, getting into sexy situations – could all have been stripped down into a Visual Novel format and saved the player a load of wasted time and busywork scurrying around like a rat in a maze. The controls are poorly laid out too, with little thought to how players interact with eroge. Using the game's menu system requires hitting the escape key, despite movement and interaction keys being the opposite side of the keyboard on the cursors. Using carriage return to progress dialogue constantly leads to you accidentally picking responses you didn't intend to by accident; and the dialogue progress speed is frustratingly slow. There didn't seem to be quicksave / load functionality readily available.
The Prostitution Sim gameplay isn't particularly novel or engaging
It runs into all the problems of the genre, and its solutions to them aren't particularly effective. There's the ludonarrative dissonance that the genre seems incapable of avoiding – where you intentionally walk the female lead into trouble to trigger the gratuitous H-scenes. There's the terrible pacing and lack of narrative where the character just gets sexually abused right out of the gate, but then carries on afterwards as if nothing had happened. There's the underwritten sex scenes that fail to evoke any sense of mood, narrative, theme. All of these games run into the contradiction between wanting to show you a load of diverse rapey hardcore scenes that you can unlock via sandbox gameplay; and needing (and failing) to create and maintain a satisfying narrative structure for the lead character to progress through. None of them seem to have a clue how to reconcile the two, although the demo for Karryn's Prison suggests that Remtairy at least want to try some things to paper over the cracks. On the plus side this game does seem invested into giving the player the choice to build up Claire's "Defiance" and "Intrigue" stats. This is somewhat comparable to games like Dark Elf letting you play it like a straight JPRG to avoid the non-con scenes; and in the same way (albeit to a lesser extent) misses the point of what games like this are actually about. Still, it does add a significant amount of bonus value to what would otherwise be a pretty unexceptional experience.
The initial pacing is abysmal
The game alternates between dreary RPGMaker wandering around, and then gratuitous hardcore sex, with no real build-up or narrative in between, certainly no gameplay. As soon as you leave the (painfully linear) prologue, you're in a dungeon where Claire's new owner wants to break her into a sex-slave; but this process just consists of clicking on food and then the bed to trigger the next CG, and then the next, and then the next until you are let out for the next linear bit of fetch-and-carry to-and-fro. The whole thing could've been one single scene with "Claire ate and slept and woke up the next day" as cut-away text in between the sequences, and lost nothing. You then have another sequence of completely linear fetch-and-carry quests you can't deviate from. Eventually, after a mediocre hour's worth of gameplay, you can finally free-roam in a thoroughly "meh" sandbox portion of the game. The linear sections fail to develop a compelling plot; the sandbox elements don't fare any better. Games like President Yukino / Leanna's Slice-of-Life streamline this into a less cumbersome experience, although do end up feeling slightly more sterile because of it. Pretty much all games of this genre end up feeling surprisingly unsexy because of how divorced the sex-scenes are from any player- or character-driven storytelling.
The artstyle is unique
You can tell from the store page if you like it or not. I found it to be tolerable, but I was largely indifferent to it. The CGs are underwhelming: They're well drawn and suitably graphic, but they are all oddly lifeless. They're all brief, with only a couple of variations to each to illustrate the developing scene; and the writing is way too sparse and brief to sell a convincing setup and pay off for most of them. So the sex scenes come across as surprisingly unerotic, which I guess is good if you're trying to portray non-consensual scenes as targeted acts of violence; but isn't really a selling point for an eroge.
If you like Prostitution Sims, wait for a sale
As far as RPGMaker games go, this one's on the upper end of the price band. I didn't feel that the ways in which this game surpasses any given competitor were sufficient to justify a higher price tag. And as I think most of its direct competitors are over-priced anyway, that is even further from being an endorsement.
