About the Game

Reentry is a space flight simulator based on real life spacecrafts. You create a new astronaut, gain levels and experience for every move you make by completing missions in space. You will have access to missions similar to what happened in real life, or fictional missions designed to challenge you as an astronaut.

Spacecrafts are highly complicated machines with the primary task of exploring and understanding what's outside the atmosphere of Earth, while keeping the astronauts alive for long periods. This is achieved by hundreds of individual systems and backup systems working together. With the help from the in-game Space Flight Academy, the provided flight manual for each spacecraft, and checklists, you will learn how to fly and operate these machines, and explore space in a high resolution and realistic environment.

Control almost every system like the real astronauts, see the sunset and sunrise while orbiting Earth with speeds exceeding 25,500 ft/s. Explore the surface of Earth and the Moon with high resolution textures, or simply enjoy the solitude of being in space.

Imagine the final few seconds before launching into space. You are sitting on top of a 111 meter high rocket, looking at the instruments of a spaceship about to leave the oasis we call Earth. The engines are igniting, mechanical systems are clinging below you, while thousands of gallons of fuel is pumping through the systems. The loud roar of the five F1 engines are producing close to 8,000,000 pounds of thrust, violently shaking the cockpit and lifting 3 million kg off the pad. The launch pad tower is slowly moving away from you while the engines are balancing the rocket like a skyscraper on a needle. Sophisticated engineers has created the systems that will safely accelerate you to 25,500 ft/s, into a free fall orbit, with the Moon as the destination.

This simulator is a masterpiece! I wrote an Apollo systems simulator much like this over 30 yrs ago in BASIC using ASCII graphics, you just know I'm really liking what the developers have done here. If your familiar with the subject matter and have always wanted to 'run the check lists' in the Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo spacecraft, your going to really enjoy this. Very polished and well documented for an early access simulator.

This is a full fidelity cockpit simulator of the American spacecraft that were used during the Space Race. To keep this review from being unnecessarily long, I am going to break down the features of this game into a list. Features in this game (what you can do). - Fly the Saturn V and all it's modules, Mercury Redstone, Mercury Atlas, Gemini Titan, and drive the Moon Buggy. - Create custom missions for different objectives and scenarios. - Play as Mission Control for Project Mercury and Project Apollo. Please note that Mission Control in this game is not limited to just one person, and you could have a full room assisting and guiding a single astronaut. (Cockpit coop is not a feature yet, and the developer is using Mission Control to test the logic and systems). - Complete the American side of the Space Race, using the campaign missions. - Academy missions, which help you learn the basics for each spacecraft. - Fly free missions, and choose what to do. - In this build you can seamlessly fly from Cape Canaveral to the Moon and back in the Saturn V, dock and perform a rendezvous in Project Gemini, and fly into orbit in Project Mercury. The Lunar Module and Command Module (LM and CM) are by far the most difficult spacecraft to learn in this game, but are incredibly rewarding when you do. I would like to note that all this was made by a single developer, who you can easily contact on discord. I recommend joining the Reentry discord before buying, so you can ask around for advice on whether or not you should get it. Buy if... - You have a lot of time on your hands. - You want a realistic simulator of the above spacecraft. Don't buy if... - You want a sandbox, build it yourself simulator, such as Kerbal Space Program. - You want an easy game that you can pick up and learn in a week or two. - You are not interested in space, and aren't willing to read about topics to do with it. Thanks for reading this review, If you have questions related to this game, the official Reentry Discord link is here: https://discord.gg/JeaNXAJv

A very good start. I am through the gemini tutorial and have been very impressed by the level of detail. This would fall into the category of a cockpit procedural simulation. The systems have been authentically recreated and your job is to learn those systems and be able to implement them via a checklist. Just about every switch works and the systems modelling feels very authentic. The only drawbacks which are inherent to this kind of simulation are the contraints of history. The missions feel canned because they are. Workshop support will help this immensly as would / will dynamic failures. The mercury project feels virtually complete. Gemini is less polished but probably at the 80 percent solution while it appears apollo is probably 50 percent complete with the Lunar landing portion of the game still progress. This won't be for everyone, but for those that find learning the tech and techniques that got us to the moon interesting, it's a damn fine start!

When I first got this 1.5 years ago, I wasn't sure what to expect. Much wasn't finished, and it didn't seem like I could do much of anything without it crashing. This being the case, I set it aside for awhile. Now, in June of 2021, I am simply in a state of stunned silence when I fire this title up. I never thought that a study-level sim of this quality would be available in my lifetime. To say it is awesome would be an understatement. It's a thing of beautify that must be seen to be believed. Think: DCS for Mercury/Gemini/Apollo. Not just visuals are detailed, superb audio adds to the immersion. Make sure to use good headphones, and turn them up. Not too high, or launch will have your ears ringing. While the configuration of the sim can still be a little challenging, once in, the world disappears and you're in the Apollo (or Mercury or Gemini) capsule waiting for launch. I've flown many of the most relevant missions from the 60's, and I have an entirely new perspective of these venerable missions. Words on a screen don't really do this sim justice, and I'd rather go back and fly it than type up some novel-length review. All I can say is that, if you are even remotely interested in space flight or even are just interested in the the historic space missions, and you have a few bucks available on you card, you'd be gravely mistaken not to get it. You'll be missing out on the best application in this genre that will most likely be produced in your lifetime ... and possibly ever. The interface is still kinda beta-ish, and sparse, but what they've done once you enter the sim is incredible. I don't know how you could give it less than a 10/10 and live with yourself. Bravo.

Amazing simulation of the early US Space manned flights. I've been waiting for something like this for quite a long time, and I've been burnt by recent false starts by other so called developers. Despite it's early access status, the simulator, the spacecraft and their respective systems feels quite mature. The developer is obviously proactive and regularly engages with the community and the updates to this point, have been fairly frequent. There are also a number of flight testers who are often 'on hand' to provide help and support. This is a niche market, If you're even moderately interested, especially if you've an interest in the early US spaceflight (Mercury/Gemini/Apollo) I urge you to support this product by purchasing it today.

When you consider the fact that this has been developed by 1 individual is mind boggling. Incredible attention to detail and historic accuracy is cut above anything related to this era. This is not just a simulation, it is an emotional/educational experience for individuals (myself included) who dreamed of being an astronaut. When this product goes live (testing completed), it will be my first and foremost nomination for GAME OF THE YEAR! A must have simulation for space enthusiasts...click purchase for yourself and gift your friends if you have the means!

I bought this game a year ago specifically for the VR. Unfortunately, I quickly ran into a problem where I was blocked from continuing on the launchpad. The dev (and several very friendly discord group users) worked with me but couldn't figure it out. With my refund window fast closing I sadly refunded it but I never gave up hope for it. Last night, a year later, I bought it again and spent 4 hours in the tight little confines of my Mercury capsule. The problem of last year is gone and I am now a gen-u-wine Certified Mercury Pilot. If you have VR, the dev has done an amazing job of putting you right into the spacesuit of Shepard and Glenn. I expect to spend many hours in this tiny space honing my skills until I'm ready to move on to the complexities of Gemini.

I really like the concept. I'm a huge fan of kerbal and simulators in general and this game is right up that road. This game focuses primarily on actual space flight and the mechanics behind actually flying a spaceship (very cool!). This game is very much an early access game though. After about two hours I have the following two comments to the developers First, the tutorial is not very helpul at all, mostly becuase of the all the acronyms (The tutorial should give both the acronyms and full meaning at all times and then give only the acronyms in the game. Showing an acronym once is not enough to immediately learn it. Maybe add a lookup tab somewhere? This will make it much easier for people to learn) and the difficulty in finding the actual switches that the tutorial references. I would suggest to the developers that boxes and arrows be added to help find things. For example, if the tutorial references the amps gauge place a box around the gauge that is easy to see and have an arrow on screen point to it. Also instead of telling the player to "do this thing and look and see what happens" have the tutorial do it and show the player. Then at the end have a short/small test where the player actually does things. Telling the player "find this switch, flip it, and then see what happens" is not a good way to teach someone. Instead, the tutorial should explicitly show where the switch is, flip it for you, and show you what happens. At the end, then have the player do (and have a way for the player to go back and watch how to do things again). Second, following checklists is difficult for no other reason then because the checklist blocks most of the screen and can't be moved. Instead the checklist should be off to the side (say on the right side) so that the player can look at the checklist and flip switches at the same time without opening and closing it repeatedly. If simulators and space are your thing, and you would like to support the developers, I would suggest going for this game. Otherwise, I would hold off a bit as this game does need a bit of work for its price atm. This game though has the potential to be very cool if the developers continue to develop it (I would love to see mars and/or deep space missions eventually in addition polishing it up). Given improvements in the two things I've discussed above and additional content I would more than recommend this game at its price.

DCS... IN SPACE! This is awesome. It portrays the golden era of NASA in all it'ss glory. Seeing the equipment they had to work with "first hand" gave me a new appreciation for the sheer enormity of what these men managed to accomplish. I'm yet to finish the "arc" of missions (I'm now a little beyond the half way point of Gemini), but all I've seen so far and the occasional peeks into Apollo I've braved as given me nothing but good to say. My sincere compliments to the developer. To think that this was made by a single guy leaves me in awe. You've managed to capture not only a simulator level of detail (the comparison with DCS is a compliment), but also the feel and wonder of space exploration in the halcyon days of primitive computers and steely eyed rocket men. I hope you're making some serious money off this, you deserve it. The price is criminally underrated for the content on offer, and updates are regular and plentiful. If you like simulators, or have an interest in the premier saga of space exploration, this is a must buy.
