In Genesis Part 1, you wake up within a virtual simulation, you must survive in a world unlike anything you’ve seen before! ARK: Genesis represents a new, story-oriented beginning in ARK’s epic saga of survival. With a strangely familiar companion, you must overcome the simulation’s rigorous tests. Only by fighting, building, taming, and exploring will you uncover the secrets behind this forbidding place.

In Genesis Part 2, you’ll emerge into a vast new physical world teeming with strange biomes and exotic creatures, while engaging in extensive story-oriented missions that test your mettle, ingenuity, and survival skills. Wielding an array of powerful new tames, items, weapons, and structures, you’ll journey from idyllic fields through twilit phantasmagoric realms, all the way into a literal hellish heart of darkness. Thousands of years and trillions of miles away from where your story began, you’ll challenge series-villain Rockwell in a final confrontation to determine the fate of humanity. The future is in your hands, Survivor -- one last time!

A holographic guide, HLN-A, offers a wide array of missions at varying difficulty levels, for you to tackle at your own pace. Completing missions earns you new map-wide bonuses and Hexagons, which you can spend for extra resources, additional Engram Points, TEK items, travel between environments, and more. Discover hundreds of Explorer Notes, and Environmental Cues throughout the world to learn even more about the history of the ARK saga.

ARK: Genesis features beautiful biomes ripe for exploration. In Genesis 1, the simulator tests your mettle across fetid alien bogs, deep undersea trenches, frigid mountain peaks, dangerous volcanic hellscapes… and even the wild low-gravity surface of an alien moon. Conquering each area requires preparation, smarts, and the ability to improvise so that when a volcano rains fire from the sky, an avalanche buries you, or a whirlpool pulls you into the briny deep, you’re ready to meet the challenge! In Genesis 2, you’ll emerge from the simulation into a gargantuan starship filled with unique biomes, including beautiful elysian fields, an exotic twilight realm of highly evolved lifeforms, the depths of outer-space, and even the innards of the ever-expanding Rockwell himself. Each biome presents unique hazards, but also opportunities to acquire new resources and creatures -- including the powerful new ‘Mutagen’ that enables you to further evolve your existing tames!

The environments may be dangerous, but that’s nothing compared to the new creatures who call ARK: Genesis home. In Genesis Part 1, you’ll encounter web-spinning spiderlike beasts, cute-but-deadly shapeshifters, sea turtles the size of islands, and lava lizards that act as living forges. Plus, who doesn’t want to fly around on an immense hyperspace-capable space whale?

In Genesis Part 2, you’ll find the brain-controlling Noglins, elegant high-tech Stryders, the cuddly mobile-nursery Maewing, and even the laser-shooting, bomb-blasting, barrel-rolling Astrodelphis starfighter -- among other fantastical new creatures and evolved R-Variants of old favorites!

You’ll need all the help you can tame, as both Genesis expansions present you with challenging new bosses and minibosses that will take all of your skills to conquer.

As you brave the many dangers of ARK: Genesis, you’ll gain access to powerful new tools to aid you.

In Genesis 1, you’ll wield weapons like combo-capable plasma claws and remote-guided cruise missiles. Make tools from fishing nets to mining drills, or new vehicles such as hover-skiffs. Build interactive structural elements such as pressure plates, alarm systems, jump pads, ocean platforms and more.

In Genesis 2, you’ll learn how to place remote cameras, pull off tricks with a floating skateboard-like Hoversail, take care of your eggs with the high-tech Incubator, shoot arrows made of pure energy with the Tek Bow, even engage in a Real Time Strategy command mode within the new ExoMek --- and far, far more.

Whether you’re a go-it-alone survivalist, a weapon-making warmonger, or a base-building architect, these expansions have a crafting project suited for you.

ARK: Genesis Parts 1 and 2 together conclude the epic saga of ARK: Survival Evolved -- the ultimate battle between the freedom to evolve, versus the oppression of controlling life’s creation. Which side wins out is up to you, Survivor. Your skills, your tames, your weapons and your builds -- everything that you’ve accomplished is put to the test here, as the future of humanity hangs in the balance!

Ark is a great game. End review of game. Do NOT play on AllianceGamingServers servers. We worked for 2 weeks, firsts time I've gotten into the game. An admin came on and one of our tribe mates who was also just learning had left a thatch hut near an obelisk, he saw it and wiped our entire tribe. two huge bases, multiple breeding rexes, wyverns, a thyla, x rexes from Genesis. All gone. Because of a thatch hut in the wrong place. One of our tribe complained about it and he got banned. That is all. Play the game, its great, just don't play on Alliance servers. Have a good day.

Ark itself is a game I TOTALLY recommend. If you like taming, raising and fighting creatures, survival, exploration, online OR solo play, an open world, and tons of cool maps with different biomes, an optional story that you have to uncover and piece together on your own then Ark is THE game for you. All of those things are why I asked for a refund on my Genesis season pass. Genesis introduced an online mission game with an Ark skin slapped over it. I was expecting a cool new map with never before seen biomes and creatures to tame. (It was pitched as being a huge ocean world.) What we get is a "simulation" where you can teleport between biomes whenever you want, you complete "missions," and buy survival and loot crate options with the "hexagons"that you get from the missions. Yep. Do mission. Get in game currency, BUY items that you normally have to farm, gather, and build yourself. It completely breaks the survival mechanic, and it's entirely different from the game I've been playing. Further the download is HUGE and there have been tons of reports that it negatively impacts other maps you play on. Kudos to Wildcard for trying something new, and I'm not knocking people who enjoy that type of game, but it isn't the game I signed up for or wanted. So I'm out, and I'm hoping removing this DLC won't wreck the other maps I love to bits. Ya'll have fun. Edit: Why do I have 0 game hours listed? Because 0 information was available about all this before the (delayed....delayed...delayed) launch. And as soon as it WAS available, during the INSANELY LONG install time, I looked at youtube videos about the features and watched let's plays. Edit Edit: Never preordering a DLC again, for this or any other game I play. Can't get a refund for it because I play the Ark base game too much - Steam says it falls outside the "2 hour playtime limit."

    - No flying allowed in a map with plenty of outside space, beautiful skies, and flying dinos you can tame and saddle - No building allowed in most parts of the map, breaking the game's building mechanics - Virtual coin shop allowing you to buy resources, breaking the game's survival mechanics - Small, cramped and confined map zones requiring a teleport to travel, breaking the game's exploration mechanics - Glitchy minigame-based missions which don't work properly online, breaking the game's multiplayer mechanics - Unbalanced spawn points which makes every place extremely hostile, including the startup area, breaking the game's level progression mechanics Genesis is an untested, unfinished expansion pack made by developers who don't understand and probably have not even played their own base game. It provides none of the things Ark players want, and it actively works to break the things players love about Ark. It's the worst thing to ever happen to the game and will probably end up killing it. It doesn't matter if you play offline single player, small tribe dedicated, official, PVP... It is a disaster in every way possible. Avoid it like the plague.

The long awaited finale of the Ark series. This labor of greed began with a simple series of lawsuits, and has grown into... not much more. This final chapter serves as a constant reminder that you, the player, do not matter to Wildcard. Feedback has been ignored for years, and now, in this last quest, we get the honor of playing through every bad idea Wildcard has ever had. Join us in the game that redefined the term "season pass"; the first game to ensure that pass holders would have to buy a second pass. What adoring fan wouldn't pay for a ticket to an event twice? Act now and you will receive: - An AI so annoying, you'll want her dead in the first 5 minutes - A beautiful new map of reused assets - Constant respawns inside hostile dinosaurs, which will maul you, and then maul you again when you respawn on that singular point (since the game only drops you in one spot per map region) - The classic bugs and exploits, all present since the early alpha, never patched - Dinosaurs you've know for years, rehashed and presented as new, with 2-3 new ones mixed in - Exciting lore that has already been released, presented once again as new All this can be yours in this exciting expansion that costs about as much as the base-game. This steaming pile of rehashed content with a great demo video will entertain and amaze. Embark on this final journey which will never be patched or updated, and a story that will conclude with... well it won't. Ark 2 has already been announced and its just more of this.

Based on all the negative reviews I thought this DLC was going to be horrible. Even though I had purchased it, I almost didn't play it. Then I figured why not? Nothing to loose. Not like I could return it anyhow (hours played on the base game - 1700+ in my case - apparently count toward new DLC's). To my surprise I it is actually a very good DLC. I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. I personally do not feel like the biomes are small, certainly no smaller then The Island. The game play is about the same as every other ARK DLC (I've played them all) with the exception of having HLNA float about (with a very small, expensive store with a few base items. It comes in handy occasionally, but is largely useless), teleportation (painfully slow), and quests you can activate end game for additional loot. Other then that, the game play itself is no different IMO. The biomes are beautiful, the new creatures fun and unique. It is quite true that on public servers you can not build in mission zones, however in single player or private servers (which is what I play on, my own private server) you can simply disable that and build away to your hearts content. GameUserSettings [Server Settings] bIgnoreStructuresPreventionVolumes=true bGenesisUseStructuresPreventionVolumes=false It is also true that on public servers you can not utilize fliers. Again, this can be changed in single player/private servers with a simply .ini change. GameUserSettings [Server Settings] bForceCanRideFliers=true TEK Suits can also be modified: GameUserSettings [Server Settings] AllowTekSuitPowersInGenesis=true If you are already an ARK fan, I don't believe you will be disappointed. It's another cool map with a few game tweaks. I definitely recommend it.

I flew around on solo to scout out some good build spots only to find most of the map areas are "mission area" and not able to build there. These are my initial thoughts to the expansion with an hour of exploring and checking things out. 1. These biomes are tiny and the barrier walls separating them make them feel even smaller. Also very low ceiling possibly due to #2 2. No flying. I am seeing threads about official servers not being allowed to fly on flying dinos. You also can't use your tek armor that you spent years farming bosses, OSD, etc for. 3. No tek armor abilities besides helmet work in genesis. This feels like a regression in my character and not something I am thrilled about. 4. Moving between biomes requires interacting with hln4 which is not always cooperative. Also unable to do while mounted. This is basically a boss arena port which does take the 20-30 seconds to do. This takes me to a weird screen/animation that locks up and freezes for a few seconds before suddenly appearing in the new biome (often in the middle of 2-20 aggressive dinos) 5. Missions seem like an interesting concept but so far seem to be for nothing other than earning hexagons that can be traded for basic materials and loot boxes. inb4 microtransactions. 6. Mission areas block of an excessively large area of the biomes from being able to build. This massively restricts base location options in an already small biome. 7. Where is my giant af turtle to build a base on? And even if it is in game, the ocean biome is tiny. 8. Tek claws feel weak. Tek shoulder canon feel week. 9. Tek hovercraft seems to have a weapon? couldn't get it to work if it is a weapon 10. Space whale saddle has a turret, gave it element, hit c, nothing happens when I click or press other buttons. Is this working? 11. Lunar biome was misleading and is a massive disappointment. It was made to sound like a moon with land where you could build a base but turns out to be an asteroid field that is 50%+ mission area (cannot build there) that seems to be uninhabitable during the day hours due to radiation. This was one thing I was most hyped about and now very sad and angry about. 12. Volcano area is beautiful but tiny. The fire aesthetics of the trike, allo, and lava lizard thing are amazing looking. Wish they were on dino that actually matter and get used. 13. Variants in other biomes are beautiful (except spino which was kind of lackluster) but again limited to mostly dinos that don't matter since they aren't really used. I will be hunting down x-mosa to make a new breeding line for the colors 14. Space whales are the only reason to buy genesis
