EDIT (11-2020): Just get the handsome pack during a sale. I feel as though many of these negative reviews are from people who are upset about what exactly a season pass SHOULD contain and what many consumers got instead. I believe some of these problems are legitimate and just cause for a negative review, but some are simply errors purely from the consumer's side. I'm going to start my review by breaking down all the DLC which offers a substantial amount of GAMEPLAY (meaning we exclude cosmetic DLC and DLC that awards only guns) and which of those DLC the Season Pass offers: (note that I have a tl;dr at the end of my review) DLC: (In chronological order) Borderlands 2: Mechromancer Pack - $9.99 (10/9/2012)** Borderlands 2: Creature Slaughterdome - $4.99 (12/11/2012)** Borderlands 2: Psycho Pack - $9.99 (5/14/2013)** Borderlands 2: Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 - $4.99 (9/3/2013) Borderlands 2: Headhunter 1: Bloody Harvest - $2.99 (10/22/2013) Borderlands 2: Headhunter 2: Wattle Gobbler - $2.99 (11/26/2013) Borderlands 2: Headhunter 3: Mercenary Day - $2.99 (12/17/2013) Borderlands 2: Headhunter 4: Wedding Day Massacre - $2.99 (2/11/2014) Borderlands 2: Headhunter 5: Son of Crawmerax - $2.99 (4/15/2014) (** = released during Season 1) Season 1 Season Pass: Borderlands 2: Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty - $9.99 (10/16/2012) Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage - $9.99 (11/20/2012) Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt - $9.99 (1/15/2013) Borderlands 2: Ultimate Vault Hunters Upgrade Pack - $4.99 (4/2/2013) Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - $9.99 (6/25/2013) If you do the math, you will see that purchasing the Season Pass will save you $14.99 as opposed to buying the rest of the main-story and Ultimate Vault Hunters Upgrade Pack 1 (UVHUP) DLC individually. Now, let's look at the description detailing the contents of the Season Pass: "Buy the season pass and get all four campaign add-ons plus the level cap for the price of three add-on campaigns -- a 33% savings. All Season Pass content will be available by June 2013." 2K delivered on the content of their Season Pass, but if we look at all the DLC released by 2k/Gearbox, we will discover that there were 3 DLC packs released in the same "season" as the Season Pass: Mechromancer, Creature Slaughterdome, and Psycho. This leads me to my next topic:
What SHOULD the Season Pass contain?
Before I start, I know that many of you are probably saying that the Season Pass should contain what 2K says it should contain, so I would like to preface this paragraph with another question: what is the definition of a "season pass"? I can guarantee you that this will always boil down to one of two answers: ALL DLC or SOME DLC that can be purchased before they are released. However, the definition isn't important here--what IS important is that many consumers will have conflicting ideas of what a season pass encompasses. It is true that one can and should read the product description before buying anything, but we cannot deny that not everyone sees the phrase "season pass" as the same. So what SHOULD the season pass contain? I would argue that it should contain all DLC released within a certain timeframe, or within a SEASON, otherwise it feels as though the season pass is borderline false advertising. The biggest problem I have with the Season Pass is that the 2 character DLC and the Creature Slaughterdome DLC were released in the same time frame as the DLC covered by the Season Pass, but are not included. I know the Mechromancer was a pre-order bonus, but I feel that is another can of worms that I would like to avoid considering this is a review for the Season Pass and not the Mechromancer DLC. For the most part, for people considering purchasing the Season Pass TODAY the pre-order bonus does not apply to them. I am also aware that the Season Pass was announced to only contain four main story DLC at time of release, and stated nothing about including the character or Creature Slaughterdome DLC, but I feel that is beside the point I am trying to make: publishers NEED to be careful when using the term "season pass". Now, many consumers will disagree with me, and that's perfectly fine, as this is a matter of my own opinion. But I believe that 2K did not deliver a full product with the Season Pass, simply because the title of "season pass" has become so ambiguous in today's video game market. It may not have been 2K's fault or intention to mislead consumers, but regardless of whether or not the consumer or the publisher is in the wrong, I simply feel that 2k should be held accountable for their DLC practices and avoid using the term "Season Pass" when this is really a "Main-story ONLY DLC Pack" which only includes story-mode DLC and the increased level cap DLC + raid (UVHUP).
CONCLUSION (TL;DR)
I strongly believe the combined ambiguity and timeframe of released DLC in the phrase "season pass" needs to be approached with caution by both consumers and publishers. 2K released a season pass that did not include all DLC released within the specified timeframe, and despite 2k stating what the season pass would contain beforehand, I believe that they should be held accountable for using an ambiguous term which leads people to have false expectations of a certain product. Just a reminder to always be vigilant as a consumer and always always always do your research before buying.

Buy the GOTY version instead. This was released way before it, so I'd understand why it's lacking in dlc, but this is really just a rip-off.

As others says, its a fu***** rip-off. Its over-priced and doesnt include everything that has the GOTY edition. You can actually buy BL2GOTY for less than borderlands2+all dlcs and...stuff. (But DLCs are awesome but...the price, gosh) Damn it Gearbox,i want a refund.
No refunds!
Unfortunately I can't recommend this, despite loving the game. Unlike most other season passes, where you get future DLC, this only covers the initial four and raises your level cap. This does NOT give you the two downloadable classes (Mechromancer and Psycho), and will not give you future DLC packs. Best to go with the Game of the Year edition of the game.

Pirate - 8 and YARRR/10 Torgue - 8 and BADASS EXPLOSIONS/10 Big Hunt - 0/10 DO NOT WANT Tiny Tina - 10/10 NEED MORE COOL REFERENCES AND STUFF In total - 9/10, great DLCs, would like to see more of them coming.

Don't buy the individual DLC. Buy it all here. Tiny Tina's Assault, Torgue's Campaign, and the level boost are worth the coin.

Season pass costs less than Game of the year. You do not get the Mechromancer or Psycho characters with season pass. YOU DO get all DLC areas. IF YOU WANT DLC AND DON'T HAVE THE BASE GAME GET THE GOTYE. If you're like me and you bought the game forever ago and just want the DLC to make your next playthrough fresh, buy this instead.

You end up paying $30 for this and $40 for the base game for 4 pieces of dlc, when you could just buy GoTY and get 9 pieces of dlc for a flat $40. So all and all, this is worthless, and i made the mistake of buying it Right Away cause i loved BL.

Its a debatable purchase. Probably smarter to go and buy the GOTY edition, at least you get more for your money.
