  -I have only ever played Returns, Reloaded, and 3 Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first: no 1440p. Sucks, I half expect it from Japanese ports, but there it is. You need a controller. I use kb/m and controller equally so this doesn't bother me, but I know some people explode in violent rage if you even suggest they plug a controller into their PC (imagine not taking advantage of the PC having every peripheral you could dream of at your finger tips..). I've seen 1 or 2 monster flavor texts that are still in Japanese. Whatever. Game runs well, no dips bloops, crashes, or bops. Game looks like a Vita game but again, I'm not one to care. This game is not going to work out your 3080ti. I see a lot of reviews crying about censorship and what have you, but the fact of the matter is that the original Xeno was not a very well received game. Fans of Metal Max were extremely unhappy with Xeno when it first came out, and Reborn is an attempt to address those things and bring the game closer to the older titles. The game we got is exactly the same as the Reborn the Japanese received. If you consider 'censorship' to be the owner of an IP attempting to make changes to a title to directly address fan backlash, then I guess this game IS censored and you can safely move on to something else (and for the record, I don't know if they succeeded). For everyone else though, there's a solid quasi-open world JRPG here for you. So far, it feels like a Metal Max game. Even more light on the story than the early games/remakes, you're just thrust into things with nary a spare word or idea why you're there, and off you go. It actually feels really abrupt compared to say, MM2R and I think they may have cut a little too much out. You can certainly tell things were cut or left out, and what little story there is left doesn't make much sense which is a BIG downgrade to older MM titles. They too don't have much of a story, but they DID have one, and it wasn't so disjointed and random at times. So don't expect any kind of quality narrative really; you're there to survive, shoot guns, drive tanks, kill bounties, and listen to the rocking song in the bar. That is your reason for living. That being said, it feels like Metal Max, looks like Metal Max, and while not as good 10 hours in as I found Returns and Reloaded, I am still having a good time and would recommend the game to anyone who liked them. If you haven't played them, go find them! There are English patches for the three and they are completely worth the average JRPG fan's time. This game might be a good entry point for a new player as it has more modern conveniences like auto battle and the DOG System (teleport back to town) available right away. Edit: I have since finished the game. It is MUCH MUCH shorter than the other Metal Max games, and is basically a diet version of them. The game is solid, but if Metal Max R and 2R are 9/10s, this is a 6/10. Differences from the main series: You can buy lots of stuff from the vending machine at once now instead of one by one like MMR and MM2R which is the best change. Also, scrap no longer is loaded on your tank. Hell yes. Overall tank upgrading is a lot simpler, but there's some good QoL. Overall the upgrade and weapon systems you know are here, but perhaps not quite as richly as you'd like. It is kinda a bummer that tank patterns are no longer a thing and you just go buy whatever chip you want, but on the other side of the coin, it means all differences between the vehicles boils down to what you like to look at more or less. No more using a Wild Bus because it's awesome but feeling bad because it's just not as good as other vehicles.

  On top of being a heavily censored, content cut version of the game from which it was reborn, it also has a ton of bugs, some of them game breaking (inability to salvage scrap and buried treasure, combat ending, but enemies still being 'alive' and locking you in combat mode) and the DLC currently does not work. I really like this series, so it's a shame to see such a terrible introduction to it on Steam :(

  I never played the original game I don't know about the cut content, although it's pretty sad. But add the fact none of the dlc appear in game. I fear what i will find later in the game. Also the grind for money gets boring very fast. So I can't trust or recommend

  The "reborn" version of this game cuts almost all character interactions, cut-scenes, story, art, etc from the game, not replaced just removed. The dlc's don't actually function so they are literally throwing your money away. It's really sad to see what they did with a unique JRPG like this when it finally came to PC.

  Kadokawa Games did a wonderful job upgrading the graphics, combat, equipment, crafting and gameplay but they removed all the cutscenes and most of the story and even replaced Nephtech weapons and replaced them with skills. They made it so you get OPAF equipment from the bosses and weakened all the bosses so the they are MUCH more easy. The strong bosses and the Nephtech weapons add to the story and gameplay as well as replay value. I can make do without the strong bosses and replay value just means i will play the game fully only 1 time. The game was cheap so that is okay but i draw the line at them REMOVING all cutscenes and most of the story. The PS4 OG version was AMAZING do to how fleshed out the story was and how much like an anime the cutscenes were. this version is basically just a good tank sim game.

  The only good part about this remake is that it convinced me to buy the original version which is far superior and feels way more like Metal Max. Please update this game to have an option for the old style of combat at the very least. This new version is worse than Burger King.

  not good as past Metal Series -poor port -no MKB Support -loss much charm of this series ระบบเกมแบบใหม่ ไม่ค่อยดี บังคับยาก น่ารำคาญมากกว่าตื่นเต้น ระบบยิงออโต้ ไม่ได้ช่วยอะไรมาก เพราะ วิ่งหลบไม่ได้อยู่ดี ระบบน้ำมัน หายไป วารปได้เรื่อยๆ กลับฐานเติมของทันที ไม่เสียเงิน กลายเป็นเกม ดาษๆไปเลย

  I'm gonna have to say, I feel a little ripped off here, and if you played the original release, don't play this one. They've removed about half of the game. There's no point having side characters, they do nothing, except one has one little extra scene. There's no interaction between them. The hub base is barely that now, just a single room. And the Nephtech gear that was important in the last one? Totally missing. The map? Totally useless now. Why is the main character a brooding edgelord with a fake arm? Who knows, and apparently, who cares. Let's kill robots. If you haven't played one of these games before, this is an excellent entry level one to start with. But don't get your hopes too high. And don't worry if it doesn't make a lot of sense. If you want the good, original story go find a ps4 copy of the first release. At least the combat is a bit easier this time around, and you get a dog.
