  Way too much grinding, and way too few dungeons to do it in. No CG's, no lewdness leveling; the means to do so are not present in the game. The only CG's that I saw (and CG's really are not that interesting, I can watch lewd anime pics anywhere) are tedious spam-Enter pics before we get 'game over'. So now, when I lose, I just do Alt-F4 and restart the game. Goes much faster. The only H-scenes that I saw so far is when the protagonist gets raped. Japanese just don't seem to understand: rape and forced sex are NOT sexy or erotic! It's not even lewd, it's just criminal, fyi.

[h1]Gameplay[/h1] This is a basic RPG with semi-randomized dungeons. You can accept a variety of quests to gain powerful allies and items, and to advance the main story. Combat is turn-based, and otherwise unremarkable. As you gain experience, you will level up, improving your base stats. However, experience can be [i]spent[/i] on "Ascensions", which grant new skills. As Ascensions cost experience, they can actually [i]reduce[/i] your level — therefore, it woulds be [i]unwise[/i] to Ascend in the midst of powerful foes. Certain lewd engagements increase your "Lewdness", which can be used to unlock sexually-oriented missions. I am disappointed by the inability to adjust user-preferences from the titlemenu. You may adjust audio preferences in-game using the "F5" button. The "Gallery" allows you to review previously encountered CGs. The in-game visuals are generally unremarkable, laden with recognizable RPGMaker assets. I did enjoy the somewhat expressive character portraits, though full-art CGs are few and far between. [b]- The Goods-[/b] There are fifty nine sex-scenes to see, each with one or more static CGs. You can view the full scenes or individual CGs from the Gallery, accessible from the titlescreen. The artwork is very high-quality, though seldom seen with a proper background. It is generally overlayed on the world map, which I always find distracting. Most of it is tied to losing specific boss fights, or collecting enough "Lewdness" to engage in select missions. The sex-scenes typically depict blackmail or rape between the protagonist and her foes, or [i]a certain rapey janitor.[/i] Consensual sex is few and far between. [h1]Verdict[/h1] I recommend this game when it goes on sale. There's tons of great CGs, but [b]Otome the Exorcist[/b] isn't a stellar H-game [i]or[/i] RPG. Neither combat or erotic content are well-balanced. Hadn't I invested into a certain character with a super-OP attack, and employed cheap stun-lock tactics, I don't think I would have gotten anywhere in the game. Most of the lewd events are locked behind losing, or a difficult to attain "Lewdness" level. Despite its shortcomings, I would keep [b]Otome the Exorcist[/b] on your "Wishlist".   I never got to the H events involving the main character because this game is just so boring I didn't want to spend the time to reach them. It's story is not good enough to be a regular j-rpg and it is just too tedious and boring to succeed as a h-jrpg, my recommendations, find another game to play.

  I'd place this on the upper end of mediocre. The art is decent, although there are parts of it that are reused for different scenes. The combat gets boring quickly, and grinding is a must. The reason grinding is required is the skill system. Skills are bought with xp, not learned as you level. In fact, spending xp on skills will reduce your level if the purchase takes the character over the last level threshold. Without grinding this makes one choose between lacking the skills needed to win fights (especially boss fights will require correct skills), or being stat weak from lowed levels so fights last longer. Not a great design choice. Still, it's okay if on sale. Also, NTR warning (it's the main theme of non bad end H scenes until pretty far into the game).

  So far, so good. Nothing breathtaking about the game but nothing terrible either.

  After playing it for 8 hours (according to Steam), I gotta say this game ssSssSsUUCCKSS~!!! This game tells you to actually grind around and level up, and this is all fine--- if this is NOT an H-game. The NUMBER ONE reason why you're playing an H-game is for the s*x, and lewd corruption of the main girl. If you want to get a great RPG gameplay, go play those legit RPG games like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, go back to play PS1 games like Legend of Mana, Legend of Dragoon, Alundra, those RPGs. H-RPG games are meant for the sheer reward of R-18 goodness, the "h3ntai rewards". I know there are people who'd complain an H-game is too easy and they want more game experience---WHY would you play an H-game if you want the game experience?? Can't you finish a single Final Fantasy, like FF9 instead?? Because, really, the point on playing H-RPG games are for the H. You're not supposed to grind and level up for it, you're just supposed to find all the H-scenes, alone, in your room, with your door locked, without reaching level 40. Otome the Exorcist missed that point. A lot. I've finished Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, Legend of Legaia, Mana, Dragoon, Brigandine, Breath of Fire 3 and 4, Grandia, Alundra 1 and 2, Megaman Legends 1 and 2, Devil May Cry (1st game, whatever that was called), Diablo 2, GTA VC and SA and 4, I DON'T NEED THIS KIND OF SERIOUS GRINDING on an H-RPG.
