One of the most fleshed-out, longest, and scariest Puppet Combo/Torture Star games I've ever played. I loved every second of it.

So i finally got the game i was very excited about and, personally i think is fantastic BUT... - It has some issues - While i think it's a very spooky atmospheric game it has a certain degree of jank, for example: - The Killer get get stuck at weird moments (Albeit being rare, it can happen), this does tend to get you killed. - There's a looot of items which granted, wouldn't require much imput nor Consideration but after playing in the past Bloodwash . I'm finding myself missing out the delight of getting killed since it would show an impressive level of care for the Death animations on the game. Here's more like a quick and rather bland presentation to the Retry option (The game DOES also tend to spawn you back in bad positions where you most likely will see the Killer right in front of you). - The Game can be "quite" dark, not in themes nor things you see per say... But rather, on a sense where you can barely see anything without the flash light; of course there's an option to increase the game Even though, it does not help that much cuz' it keeps being dark even at MAX level . - Expanding the Menu options would be appreciated with thigs like: Control costumization, Visual effects, audio settings and; if possible some Quality of life improvements to make the game a much more Smooth experience.

    BEWARE OF THE BOOGEYMAN

While i don't dislike the game, there's room for Improvement & some fixes, i'm yet to see the rest of the content since i decided to skip the Motel section. Go burn in HELL Mr. Shiny !! It's a short experience if you know what you're doing (There's some RNG involved in places, mainly where Items can Spawn.) but there's more things you can see, even if you didn't do some actions, the game is kind enough to show you; your Stats at the end of your run to see how well you did. I'll have to go with a Negative review for this one; but regardless on how i feel, i'm sure that there will be some patches along the way to Improve the experience overall. The prices is just right, you'll get some spooks and have something Eerie to enjoy the joyful celebrations for Halloween. Go and grab a copy, you won't regret it !!

Copied from my Backloggd Profile Deadly Night is a survival horror slasher game with PS1 like visuals. It's one of the most fleshed-out, longest, and scariest Puppet Combo/Torture Star games. To clarify it, the game was developed by Cubyte Games, Torture Star Video was just the publisher. The gameplay could be compared to the "granny games". You walk around the house solving puzzles while trying to avoid the killer. Some puzzles are pretty straight forward but some aren't really well explained. But the PS1 graphic style is really charming and the atmosphere is great. Tbh I think I skipped the whole first chapter called "Motel" because the guy named Mr. Shiny was kinda sus, also the voice acting of that guy is hilarious so I left the motel, didn't expect this to be possible. It was kinda funny but I think I'll play it again to see the full Motel Chapter. Overall a great game with a few weaknesses that can be overlooked. Congrats Cubyte Games!

If someone wanted to faithfully recreate a PS1 survival horror game, this would be it. 10/10

A good game. A great game even. But the "Van Key" makes the "Good Ending" really tedious to get. Pro Tip: You can't just restart from the House section to get the good ending, you have to restart the entire game or else it won't register the parts together and you'll get the bad ending again. Aside from that bug which ruins the experience for me, good game.

if you don't have a health insurance, don't play this game. if you don't have cool supportive friends who are willing to stomach this game with you through discord, don't play this game. luckily I do have cool supportive friends so bwig bwig thanks to them, melisathemagnificent and Sebastian <3 idk why but no game has ever felt the same as Murder House, I enjoyed Bloodwash and all but it didn't feel the same. with this one it was much closer. object puzzles and map layouts were nice, setting was spot on. everyhting in the game makes you feel like a dirty lil bug who's got the chance to get its guts spilled any moment, you REALLY do feel weak oh my. my only negative remark would be footstep sounds. you can't ever for sure predict where they are coming from. idk if it was deliberately left as is as a design choice or not but considering lack of usual game indicators and us being left defenseless, sounds could be implemented in a much cohesive way allowing the player to easier orient themselves relative to the serial killer. overall, a pretty damn nice slashy ride, 8/10.

another mediocre PSX Style horror game that thinks: stressful = scary. if your game has to rely on loud noises paired with cheap Cat & Mouse chases to be considered a "horror" experience, then you've just made another Granny game for children. Congratulations.

Horrible game. Decent first, third, and fourth chapters. I liked the change of characters, the kills and music were good, and the multiple endings were a neat idea. Agonizing achievements that require full chapter restarts to attempt again. You have one chance to beat the arcade game in the first chapter (which has unexpectedly huge hitboxes, by the way), and you only get that chance halfway through the chapter. Second chapter is legitimately the worst version of the old school stalker puzzler I have ever played. There is no horror atmosphere in the sound design other than the radio in one room. The house's layout is boring and not particularly creepy. There are no gruesome kill scenes or disturbing fates to be uncovered, just some gross looking meat in the kitchen. There are only a handful of things that need to be done in this chapter, but they will take you a long time since you not only have to figure out what to do, but wait for the killer to leave the next area you want to explore. The killer is never actually a threat; you can easily outrun him, there are tons of places to hide, and there are plenty of bandages for the few times you might get stabbed. You learn to just turn the volume down on his annoying noises and wait for him to leave the area. Due to poor sound design, it can be hard to tell where exactly the killer is. Compare it to the recent Resident Evil games and see how far it falls short. You can't really hear him at all when he's on a different floor. The positional audio is lacks depth or reverb so in some cases you can't even tell whether he's closer to your left or right, or even whether he's moving closer or further away. He also appears to be completely quiet going up or down stairs, which are normally the loudest part of a house. This would add tension to the experience, but as I mentioned before, the killer isn't really a threat. All it affects is the achievement for never being seen, which the creator throws in to keep people replaying the game until by sheer luck the killer never quietly materializes directly in front of them. The level design also has some super linear "chokepoints" that leave the player with few options to avoid the killer. You can check some of these chokepoints safely by crouching, but when you grab the water pale, you might as well pray to the rng gods that he won't screw up your invisible achievement run. To make the experience drag on even longer, you only have a handful of inventory spaces, even though none of the items you carry are so large that they couldn't all fit in a backpack together. You can upgrade the inventory spaces a couple of times by finding backpacks, which is nice, but...come on? An inventory slot for each singular battery? Seriously? You also don't automatically discard key items when they are no longer useful, an expected feature since day 1 of this genre. To top it all off, there are still significant bugs. After I beat the game for the first time, I started getting a dark screen when trying to load into any level, and even the main menu background was completely dark. I tried reinstalling and verifying my game cache, didn't fix it. Deleting the save did fix it, just to make 100-percenting this game a little more tedious, cause why not. Would refund if I still could.

Game starts off promising, with the chapter in the Motel. Then for me it simply became a slog when I arrived at the murderer's house. It's hard to tell where he even is at, even by listening to the footsteps. And when he sees you, you are screwed because you cannot run away without running into walls or the like. Also he is so fast it is even useless to try and run. Add on top top of that that you need to go on an item fetch quest that spans a few floors, you need to find like 10 items or so and then go use them somewhere else all while trying to avoid this annoying psycho. So, the overal retro look and 80's vibe of the game cannot save it imo. Not recommended.
