SO MANY BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still giving thumbs up because I like everything except the bugs. Game Breaking bugs: **called horn (from horn hermit wall) and coin just froze over the horn and then I couldn't use coins anywhere. **Upgraded my castle on island 4 to tier 3 or 4 and the coins went in but nothing happened and locked the castle. **Island 3 troops would not longer aggressively attack for 4 coins, no option available even though I had mace guys hired from the flags/shields and had coins and army, etc. Had to switch islands to fix. Thumbs up because hopeful this will be fixed. Had no problems on Two Crowns original this last month.

Norse lands is a good dlc and i had fun playing it, whilst coming across some negative features, that i hope get changed in the future. But first of all the good parts, the horses and the abilities: The horses, most of them, are pretty cool and make the gameplay feel different. The abilities are similar to the riders from dead lands, well, but way stronger. You can easily hold up entire armies in late days with just your horse, combined with your abilitie. But that's fine, it feels like you, as king, can support your workers while expanding, or help your army. But the counterpart of this, your defence seems really weak and you can only support one side at night, when you are playing solo. One of the biggest weaknesses are the missing catapults, they cleared big waves in early stages of the game and didn't cost much money. The walls also feal much weaker and i had trouble leaving one side alone without putting two late tier towers in front of them and gathering 30 archers. And the new stone spider enemies are hard to handle, you can only kill them after they did huge damage to your wall, since your archers having problems aiming at their weakpoint before that, even with the shrine of archers activated. To top all of that, if one comes through your wall, they do a charge attack that bursts through every of your unit, they are too fast with there charge and they don't stop for a while, damaging every unit in there path. But all of that can be handled if you adjust your playstyle. I had problems playing the game in my old way, still it was manageable and thats why i gave a thumbs up. There where some bugs too, but those didn't bothered me. Except for one thing, this god damn banker. He didn't appear when the day started, only after the half day passed and to top that, he also disappeared way before the night started, even way before the greed spawned. Making him only available for like 2 mins ingametime. Everytime i wanted to drop of my gold, he was already in the castle. Please make him appear when the sun rises and only make him go into the castle when the night is very close by.

Norse lands is very buggy and the worst part of Kingdom Two Crowns. I would avoid this expansion and just stick to Two Lands plus the free DLC.

I do like it, it's quite a bit of fun, and for fairness sake I'll say what I liked first. The norse theme is quite nice, the mounts are interesting and fun (lynx chariot especially), and the character powers you gain from completing the gods challenges are great to use (though I have a strong preference for the hammer). All that said, it has some fairly large problems that should be addressed for balance purposes, and I can't honestly recommend it until they do. Before I go any further, I want to clarify that I'm playing this solo. These problems might be easily mitigated with a second player, but all my friends are very dull people who hate fun. A big part of the kingdom series has always been messing around with things and figuring them out for yourself, because there is little to no explanation for anything outside of your first camp where the ghostly king tells you what to do. Walls won't go past level 2? Better explore to find that upgrade structure. That house in the forest spat out some weirdo and now the ghost king is trying to make me do something to my tower, is it an upgraded tower? Na, you just turned your tower into a brewery, less defensive power, more drunks lured in you can arm with an axe. That tree in the forest with two crows wants your gems, ok lemmie do tha- OMG LIGHTNING HORSE! This type of exploration is the core of the series, and the above examples are fairly standard to the original. However, in Norselands there are some things which are problematically vague. A good example is the golden boar mount. It has a very weak sprint, low speed walk, and if it ever recovers from fatigue over time, it takes longer than a full day (I swapped back to my good ole' electro-pony, best mount so far imo). It also doesn't recover from grazing in any condition I could find. The Kelpie was in a smiliar boat in that it seemed to just be a worse lightning horse; stamina and speed was lower, and if there was a unique function to it I couldn't figure it out. Mount frustration is ultimately bearable; you just figure out which ones you like and don't like/can't figure out, and you only pick the ones you want on the next save file, skipping the ones you don't like to save gems. What's really causing my dislike and frustration with this version is the way it plays compared to the other factions. Where as the Europeans and Japanese have strong walls and accurate archers, the Norse lack both, favoring melee. This is a problem in SO MANY WAYS. To start, formerly defenseless units, your engineers, farmers, and even peasants now have a melee attack. In some cases this helps: small amount of weak enemies are chasing them, and unlike their counterpart who would have no choice but to run and hope they make it to the walls, these guys will take a stance and counter attack the greed, possibly killing them. This becomes a problem in later stages, where in many cases they could easily escape and save you vital time and money, but instead foolishly stand their ground in fights they can't win. Next is their fancy new melee unit: the berserker. This unit is effectively what they traded the catapult for. You first need to make a warrior (what I'll call the norse engineers), and then spend 6 coins on a potion which the warrior will take and become a berserker. They lose the ability to build and instead will leap at attacking enemies and attack while seemingly invulnerable for a brief period. Once this runs out, they're easily defeated and you've wasted 6 coins, most likely more because they lose their shield if they were equipped with one, and because the warriors will default to holding their ground with an enemy nearby (which they are almost guaranteed to be given the fact that berserkers leap toward enemies), you'll now have to also buy a replacement axe, meaning you just lost 9-11 coins for a unit that probably didn't matter much. Now for possibly the worst part which makes this frustrating at the best of time, and forced attrition at worst; the norse defensive strategy. As mentioned above, berserkers are a luxury unit which are only really strong in massive numbers, numbers which are hard to replace if lost due to their cost, so I don't consider them part of the norse defense. And due to weaker walls and archers, the norse use sheild wall charges as their primary method of staying alive. These cost 1 coin to activate and will cause shielded norse units to form up and charge attacking greedy, pushing them back from the wall and buy you time for your archers to do more damage, or if it's a knight unit leading the charge, then also do some melee damage. This is CORE to the norse's defense strategy, they will not survive strong waves without it. In order to get shields, you need to have a level 3-4 camp (don't remember which), and expand to the outer layer of defense. Next you need your shield maker to spawn. This is the first potential road bloc; the shield maker, the core of your defense, only has a CHANCE to spawn instead of the farmer or the power selector (which can spawn before you even have any powers). The chance gets even smaller if you rushed your keep for the free upgrades as it now has to compete with the sword maker and potion brewer. This means you may be forced to make an unfavorable (and indefensible) early expansion to get what you need to survive. I've had plenty of spawns which had far away walls which were so wide it placed 3 structures in the gap, or been forced to sacrifice large plots of farmland and cripple early income to get shields. Now lets assume you got lucky, in one of your immediate expansions you got a shield maker, great. Now you need to spend 2 coins per unit to make them a shield. While it is nice that this effectively gives each unit at least 1 extra life, spending 2 coins for all your archers and warriors gets super costly super quickly. Imagine you went back to an island you haven't been to for a while. Not only do you need to re-arm them, but re-shield them? The time sink involved for that is insane, I usually end up skipping shields if I'm not staying for a while. Not to mention units from the other side of your kingdom will dash for a shield on the other side if they smell one, meaning unless you managed to get a shield maker on both sides (which is possible), units may waste a large portion of your daytime going to get a shield and then go back. And if an archer goes to get one, forget them hunting today, they're out of breath after getting spiriting for that shield, they're walking back now. But hey, we're use to this kind of crap by now, we make do. Your units are protected by reinforced norse lumber and ready to push some greed. Which side of your kingdom do you hate today? Due to the fact that shield charge requires your presence, only one side can reliably be defended at a time. Norse static defenses stop being reliable after about day 50, even the higher end ones. Almost every day you'll be spending time and money rebuilding walls, and that might be the cheapest part. Remember how norse melee units will fight nearby enemies instead of running? Your warriors will usually retreat before the wall breaks to get to the next one, but if you don't have a knight to slow enemies down, or have a large gap which lets the greed catch up, they'll throw away their weapons by fighting unwinnable battles. I wanted to do a final section on how the greed are less dangerous early game, but much more dangerous late game, but I hit my character limit, I'll just say the crab the norse fight instead of the fliers aren't much of a threat unless they have a line of troops with no blockers (knights, shieldwall, wooden wall), then they wipe out your entire army, which is troublesome in later stages where they can spawn on new islands before you're fortified. I'm hoping there's a balance pass (and someone updates the wiki), then this could be their best and worth paying for. For now, just stick with the two free ones,

While the graphics are absolutely stunning, this DLC comes with so many issues that it genuinely cannot be recommended. For one thing, walls become nigh-useless. Archers can barely take down anything. The only way to survive a night is through using Shield Wall, mounts with abilities, and the god powers - but this also practically forces co-op, as you have to defend both walls at the same time. Until some kind of balance fixes are released, stick to the base game.

fucking impossible to complete, once you progress enough (around day 130) you cant return to previous islands without being raped by greed. The game makes walls and archers weak as shit so your reliant on having a fuck ton of them and a bunch of knights and shield builders to defend every night, which also means you have to babysit the walls all the time or they break and everything dies. This means that once you return to a previous island thats been mostly decayed plus you can only bring a handful of retards on the boat with you your whole defence is fucked as your gonna get 192831893721983719837912739731298371298 greed with level 3 walls and 30 dudes that managed not to get game ended by decay + boat people. Its not enough to launch shield charges (which is the system that exists to compensate for shit walls and archers, you pay money for the knights and builders to launch attacks against the greed during night raids), which is the only way to stop the walls breaking down since as before mentioned the walls and archers are weak as shit. To do these wall attacks you also need a shield building which you need to expand like 2 walls outward beyond the base walls to get and then to spend a trillion coins trying to buy a fuck ton of shields while also at the same time fending off a billion greed with 30 blokes and walls made out of fucking construction paper. overall fantastic but nearly impossible for the average player so fix the shitty walls and archers then we good

Kingdom Two Crowns: Frustration What a shame. I've thoroughly enjoyed every iteration of the Kingdom games up until this DLC. Unfortunately, it suffers from some serious balance issues. Lots of cool little things when you first start. Theme, music and artwork are on par with the rest of the series, they know what they're doing in this regard. Peasants and workers can defend themselves to a certain extent, which is a nice surprise. The new mounts and items are an excellent addition. They do a great job of building you up before they break you down. Then you play the game for a few hours and it becomes very apparent they didn't think some things through. Catapults are replaced by this odd wolf warrior upgrade. You pay 5 or so coins to transform workers into dual wielding berserkers that have a several second invulnerability and will charge beyond your wall. Cool right? Not so much when his 5 seconds of invulnerability fades and he is promptly mauled by the horde. Walls are significantly weaker, and as such cannot defend against later waves without using the shield wall mechanic. This requires you to be at the edge of your territory and spend coins so if you're playing solo, you're gonna have a bad time. Speaking of shield wall, in order to use it you need the shield shop to spawn. Too bad building spawns are in the hands of RNGesus. Desperately need to defend against that incoming blood moon? Sorry, the item switcher spawned even though you only have one item, and you can't expand further because that would clear the vagrant camp or put you too close to a portal. Did I mention you need your archers to be armed with shields in order to send them out? Neither did the game and I thought my outer walls were bugged for far too long. With some tweaks I can definitely see this one being a great addition, but for now it just made me want to play OG Two Crowns.
